If I wanted to buy a small DVC contract through resale.. say 50-100 points at about $4,000-$8,000.... could I save half of the price and then put the rest on a credit card or have some sort of payment plan?

Does the timeshare store or ******** offer payment plans?

I just realized that I could possible get DVC sooner that I thought if I did it this way.

my hubby and I would like to visit disney at least every other year so if we had a small contract like that we could always bank the points for one year to the next and take a long trip every second year!!

thanks everyone!

i don't think most resale companies take cc's. TSS does not. you could use a cash advance but the fees on those are ridiculous.

i believe TSS still offers financing, yes.

that's what i did. start small. add-ons are closing-cost-free.

Disney offers financing. The TSS will refer you to an outside lender.

thanks for the help.. I think doing it this way will work for me because I can not go completely into debt but I still don't have to wait 10+ years to save up $15,000 in order to buy with Disney directly.

woohoo!! DVC here I come! (In a few years!) :thumbsup2

I am not recommending any resaler but I believe International Properties GMAC Real Estate does allow credit cards for down payments, they also have a large list of resales.

I however really liked where I got my resale property from *********** (*******).

I would personally recommend avoiding using a credit card. But I'm a new anti-credit convert. You *could* use one of those checks they send you.

There are a lot of options between saving up $15,000 and buying from Disney and using half cash, half credit to buy a small resale. How about saving up just for the resale? Or financing through Disney (not what I'd pick, but its an option)? Certainly if I were going to save up the $15000, I'd go for a resale.

We're in the process of selling the bulk of our points (to pay off credit debt), but I know if we decide to buy more it will be all cash and resale (unless we want just a few more points and can't find a resale that small). Just the experience of someone who has been there. And I think we'll actually do okay just using our little VWL add on- 38 points. For 2 people, or even a family of 4, you could easily get a trip every 3 years on 50 points...even every other year.
