I'm trying to plan the most economical trip to the World! It would be DH, DD5, DS3 and myself.

I am hoping to use frequent flyer miles for 2 tickets. I have points for either 3 nights at Sheraton Safari with a suite, we'd pay for one to stay a total of 4 nights. I'm not excited staying off property. And after looking at value rates I'm really not saving much.

I'm thinking we could do 3 nights at ASM with a 4 day hopper pass plus dining. Then move to the Swan (free one night with points) and just enjoy the pools and possible do a park if the kids are still up for it. We'd have to pay for food but thats okay.

How would the Magical Express Transportation work to and from airport if i transfer hotels?

Does this make sense or am i still wasting money? We would use the dining plan because we are more sit down people than fast food. DH doesn't eat fast food! We also want to do character meals.

I'm looking at going early Oct to stay in the value season.

You can use ME to get to/from the airport and your Disney hotel. If your Disney Resort stay begins on Saturday, Disney's ME expects to pick you up at the airport on Saturday. They then will take you directly to WDW with no stops along the way for groceries or offsite resorts.

On the way home, ME expects to take you to the airport sometime on the day that you check out of your Disney resort. Again, they will take you directly to the airport with no other stops except to pick up other passengers also staying at Disney Resorts.

If you plan to begin or end your stay in a resort other than a Disney resort (that includes the Sheraton Safari and Swan), you will not be able to take advantage of ME for that portion of the trip. You will also have to arrange for transportation between the resorts. That will involve either renting a car or getting a cab for the move. Disney will only move you and your luggage if you are switching stays between Disney Resorts.

As I see it, you're planning to do a lot of moving around to save a few dollars. I would take all expenses into consideration and perhaps drop one hotel from my itinerary.

U have stayed in the Swan/Dolphin and moved to ASM at the end of our stay and Disney did move our things for us. This was 2003 and 2005 so maybe it has changed since then not sure
