Would This be Worth Waiting For?

Sorry for my ignorance. I don't fly often. So I just booked my trip to WDW for December. We will probably fly with Southwest. We have two $100 vouchers that expire at the end of October, but I just learned I can extend them to use on our trip. The catch is I have to wait and have them extend it at the end of July, because once I extend it, it will expire in six months. I figure flights will be released for December sometime around May. I have heard on here that it's good to book flights as soon as they are released. But for $200 in vouchers, would it be worth it to wait until July?

There is virtually no way to predict the cost of airfare other than looking at when your are traveling. High costs correlate with major holidays and spring breaks. You can google to find sites that show you historical trends which is the best one can do.

I book when I know I need to fly and if the price is something I can live with.

Last year, I booked 7 months out and our returning flight actually decreased and we received a credit. There is no way for us to use the credit before April 1. I'm just happy to find out we can extend the vouchers we got for having a 3-hour flight delay trying to get to WDW on a very late Friday night. If I remember correctly Southwest's prices weren't too bad last year for the time we will be traveling this year which is the week before Christmas. They don't get bad until closer to the date. I just plan to call before the December flights are released to make sure what I was told is correct and that they can actually extend the vouchers and that the time period I will be flying isn't a black-out period.

They can extend the vouchers upon expiration, but there's a charge. I think it's $50 each, but I could be wrong.

I was told today that they can be extended at any time, but once they extend them, they must be used within six months from that date. I was also told there is no charge to extend them.

If they are LUV vouchers they expire in 6m. Right before they expire call and have them extended. They will give you 6m (to the day you call) out at no charge. I needed ours to cover our return flight on Feb 24th so I had to wait until August 24th to call and have them extended. We had 800.00 in vouchers.

That is exactly what they are. They expire at the end of October, but I'm flying in December. I think I'd be better off going ahead and calling at the end of June (the guy told me July, not sure why) which would extend them to the end of December. I'm worried about waiting until the end of October to book it.
