Would this be weird?

When I called to book our vacation and was asked what we were celebrating I said my DD's birthday. It is on Dec. 13 but we aren't going until the 18th. Our first night I scheduled the dinner at 1900 Park Fair. I was considering ordering a cake since it is the night we are celebrating her birthday. The CM I made the hotel/package reservations with said she should still go to the guest center at the park and get her birthday button even though it wasn't officially her birthday. I guess I just feel a bit awkward and wondered how others would feel or handle this. Would you order a cake?

yep, I would totally order a cake, nothing more special than celebrating at disney,no matter when her birthday was, after all it is just a few days

Don't feel weird! It is her birthday celebration! It doesn't have to be her actual birthday! Dates are just that ...DATES. The celebration is what matters IMO. Have fun and get a cake :)

I agree with the other posters. Celebrate her birthday and enjoy your trip!:thumbsup2

I agree with the others. Get a cake AND a button. DH and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary at WDW, but we won't be there on the actual date. We can't, because the kids will be in school and then at camp, so we are actually traveling almost 2 months after the actual anniversary. We are celebrating anyway, for 11 whole days.

CELEBRATE!!

We went with my DSis and DBIL. DH's birthday was March 2nd and DBIL's birthday was March 12th. We were there the week of March 2nd. Both men wore birthday buttons, and we had a blast.

You're worried about a difference of 5 days? My upcoming trip for my son's birthday is more than 3 mo after his actual birthday!! He's a January baby, and I'm sorry, but I'm not flying out of Buffalo in January, nor am I taking a chance that the weather would be too cold to swim in the awesome pool at CBR!

I planned and booked the trip specifically for his birthday, it's just him and I celebrating (leaving little bro at home). He knows it is for his birthday, as he's getting no gift from me in January (other than the CBR beach towel and luggage tag I picked up in Oct to surprise him). I told the CM when I booked that we are celebrating his birthday, and I fully plan to get him the button and a cake. I have made previous posts on similar threads that I don't expect anything for his birthday from anybody at Disney. Him and I are celebrating anyway, and if some magic happens to come our way, it's just a bonus!

Definitely do the button and cake.
Last year, we were there for my older dd's real 8th birthday. However, we were also celebrating my younger dd's 5th birthday that was really 2 weeks earlier. Both forgo having a birthday party with friends in favor of this trip.
This year, they had a joint birthday party with friends. It was the day before my younger dd's birthday and 2 1/2 weeks before my older dd's. Outside of Disney world, most people celebrate parties on convenient days near the birthday, not neccessarily on hte actual day. I see no reason not to apply the same strategy to celebrating the birthday at Disney.
