Would this be treated as a continuous reservation?

I have a 2 bedroom at OKW booked for January 7 and 8 as well as the 10 and 11. In other words, I am missing the night of the 9. I have been on the waitlist for awhile and I check the website regularly. I called today to see if I could book the 9th on the member cash discount. It is available. Would that mean we would only have to check in once? Would we potentially have to move rooms? The agent I spoke with wasn't sure on either answer. Thanks for any input.

You should request MS to link the three reservations. And at check in ask the front desk to keep you in the same room the entire trip. I would ask the CM if you need to come back to recheck in for each segment (including the second DVC point reservation).

It's been awhile since I've used the member cash discount but when I did it was treated as one reservation. For example, I did nights 1 & 2 on cash and 3 through 7 on points. It was one reservation, I got trash & towel on day 4 of the combined reservation. I got a parking pass for the entire time.

Thanks for the replies! I'm still holding out hope for the waitlist. I'm checking the website at least once an hour. I really need to stop being so obsessive about it :) The room is something like $600 even with the discount. Ouch. It makes me nervous not to book it though since it's right in the middle of our stay.

As long as you don't have a near HH reservation you should be good.

I've done the book-on-cash thru MS for a missing night in the middle of a reservation several times...each and every time the W/L came through and the reservation automatically reverted to all-points and my credit card was credited. Also each time it "magically" transformed into just one travel plan. Most recently this was done this past June...

You might have to call MS to do the linking, but that's easy-peasy (unless you hit one of those "forever" hold times when you call)...

Good luck!!

Thanks again, hopefully everything will go smoothly. I was on the phone with MS today regarding another issue so I asked the CM if she knew how this reservation would be handled. She said she thought it would be treated as one reservation, but she wasn't quite sure.

Does anyone know if we will get 3 sets of magic bands?

Yep. I have three heading my way for our next trip.

1stnight SSR - my points
2-4 nights SSR - rented points (cancelled a cruise decided to stay on land and rented points to cover)
5-8 nights GFV - my points

3 magic bands each. ;)

If you book a cash reservation thru MS they can be linked but if you book thru CRO they can not be linked.

You can leave the wait list in place and if that gets confirmed you can call MS to get them merged if they are in one membership and MS has not merged them already or get them linked if they are in separate memberships.

I would suggest getting cash reservation now as it can be cancelled 5 days before the check in to get full refund if your wait list comes thru, because you may not get a cash reservation later on.

I wonder if they'll figure out a better way to do the magic bands at some point. If we get one for each of these reservations, we will get 4 total per person. We are staying at GFV January 12-17. So 3 for SSR and 1 for GFV. With a family of 6, this is 24 magic bands I have to pack. Seems a little crazy.

I bit the bullet and booked the cash night yesterday. Better safe than sorry!

Just a report from someone who'd "been there/done that" Had that exact same type of situation-reservation where some nights were points, some member's cash in between points, because we couldn't get one continuous reservation on points. We never had to move or even check out/in. Actually, we did it twice, and the only way I remembered it was such a "choppy" reservation is that one time, every few nights we'd get a recorded call from the resort manager, thanking us for our stay, wishing us a safe trip home (umm, not yet!), etc. Then the next day we'd get a recorded call welcoming us to the BCV.

Great! I'm glad to hear you had an easy experience.
