Okay, we are going in November (24-30). There are going to be 17 of us. My wife, DD8, DD5, MIL, FIL (6) in my group. Our friends have 4 kids plus them (6) and then we have a group of 3 with one set of grandparents (5).

POR offers 5 person rooms but not 6. What if we reserve it and "list" our DD8 in the room with one of the Grandparents room who only have 2, but bring along an air bed for DD8 to actually stay in our room? So, we'd only have to pay for one room, get all tickets, etc.... Too dirty?

I don't know about "dirty", but I would question your sanity in trying to fit six people and an airbed in that room. If not now, after that experience. That's a lot of togetherness. Wouldn't your MIL and FIL rather have their own room? Four, especially with two of them kids, isn't nearly as cozy.

I can't speak on it being 'dirty' or not but we had 6 in our room. 1 was a 2 year old so she didn't count to Disney. We were comfortable. My 3 girls on 1 bed, my husband and myself on the other and surprisingly my son slept on the pull out. We brought an airbed for him but he prefered the pull out. We would have had to move some stuff around to accomodate the airbed but he didn't even want it. We found it was enough for our needs. We couldn't all get up and have a dance party at the same time but we weren't bumping into each other.

Disney doesn't do bed checks. And honestly if it's like our family, kids will end up in grandma's room anyway. Maybe you'll get lucky and more than one will go with them! ;)

Sometimes comfort is just as important as saving money. If you're exhausted from being at the parks all day, wouldn't it be nice to come back to a room where you can relax peacefully and get a good night's sleep without being cramped into one room? Just a thought...

Two adults and four kids is much different than four adults and two kids. Why not get two rooms at a value for you and your in-laws?

As a matter of fact, we did see a family next door to us getting kicked out of Pop Century a few years ago. We heard the man next door screaming that he'd paid for the room and could have as many people as he wanted in it. We took a quick look, saw a manager type and two more CMs standing with him. After alot of yelling on the guest's part, the CMs left and we heard alot of noise next door with the mom yelling "I told you it wouldn't work and we'd get caught" and the dad yelling for her to shut up, it wasn't any of Disney's business how many people they had in the room. A little while later, we heard their door slam and heard them dragging suitcases past our door, still arguing. I don't know if they were told to get two rooms and refused or were just kicked out. I also don't know who reported them (housekeeping or maybe another guest). They were a couple with maybe four kids (one of whom was a toddler, maybe 2 or 3 y/o), so were probably one (maybe two) over the occupancy limit. Now granted most families could probably get away with it, but that family was definitely caught. Due to very heavy fines, Disney does not mess around when it comes to occupancy limits.

We are a larger family and when we go, to stay at the values we have to get two connecting rooms. Our children are back and forth between both rooms. I asked the cm the first time i booked if they really thought that my hubby would stay in one room with some of the kids and i in another with the rest or if they thought i would just let the little ones alone in their own room. I was told that the amount of people allowed in rooms if for the fire code and that the real problems arise when people try sneaking an extra body in to sleep so they don't have to pay for the extra room.

Your child will be listed on a reservation so they are paid for. I think you might find that your child will want to stay in the other room just because there will be more space but if they wonder to your room i don't think it is a big deal being that they are listed and paid for. I've never known Disney to do a bed check although i could see how housekeeping could report it

I had several conversations with several CM's and CM's at guest services and CM's at the resort hotels about a similar situation of mine. I have four people arriving later in the week and two of the four will be in my room. There was no way I was going to pay for them for the five extra days on a package and dining plan so they are listed in the second room with the two that will be in that room.

No one had ANY issue with this. As it was put to me...all people were listed as guests and were paying as guests. The room they actually sleep in was of no concern to them as long as it didn't go over OCCUPANY limits of the room (which in my case was four).

So I think the issue for you might be the occupany limit of six vs. five and not so much the money part. It is true that six in the POR room will be tight, but that is your own personal preference. Again, the issue might be on occupany.

Good luck!

What you are suggesting you did does not exceed the room occupancy. People do this all the time; just pay the extra adult fee for the few nights they are staying there, so it doesn't mess up their package.

Room occupancy is a different animal. If they note six people are in a room with the occupancy of five, you can be asked to leave and your money will not be refunded. You are exceeding the room occupancy set by the local and State Fire Marshal and Disney must adhere to it strictly.

We did this last year, at POR. We wanted to be in the mansions and we had five adults, a child and an infant. We listed myself and the five year old in one room. She stayed with me.

The four adults stayed in the other room with the infant.

We made our only request as connecting rooms. We got them, and the five year old went into the other room with her mom/dad to get ready, change, etc. But she physically slept and had all of her clothes in my room, so we did not violate the policy of occupancy.

I've had clients do this--when they book a grand gathering, maybe a couple kids end up with grandma for the sake of the reservation, but Disney knows they're all going to end up sleeping together in one room in a little pile. :) I've even had cast members put it that way. No biggie. As long as you divvy up everyone among your rooms, it's fine.

I come from a family of 5. On our last 5 day stay at POP century, my grandparents came. Making for a total of 7. My parents and brothers were in one room. My grandparents and i listed in another. We had connecting rooms, and i stayed with my parents and little brother on our airbed. Only my grandparents stayed one day less than us. So on that day, when they went to check out, I added one day to my KTTW card, and went to the parks with my fam. They were still on the DDP so i had to pay for my meal OOP and I stayed in their room that night too..

Maybe we didn't totally do disney dirty, but for one night we did. :confused3

I think the difference in this situation is that someone in the OP's group will have an additional room which is no filled. If that family had a connecting room with Grandma in it, then they probably would not have had the trouble.
