Would this be possible with child swap and fp?

We will be arriving on apparently a very busy day (Tuesday, June 22) and will hopefully be able to get to the parks by 12:00. Could we maximize FP and child swap (2 yo with us) and do this:

Arrive at DL and get one FP and one child swap for Indy & one FP and one child swap for Splash as soon as we get there. My dh, myself and maybe 6yo ds will want to ride both rides, but 2yo dd can't. After we get those we plan to do Tiki room, Tarzan's treehouse, Winnie the Pooh, use FP for those two rides, and see the afternoon parade at DL. Then we might hop to DCA and do the Bug's area and Muppetvision. Am I understanding the way to maximize using FP and child swap?

I always thought you could only get one fastpass at a time. Maybe this has changed and I'm just not up on the current policy.

You'll have some time in between when you get your fastpass and when you can use it. So if you get it at say, 1pm and it will say something like- come back between 3-3:30. So you will probably want to just send DH to get the fastpasses (give him all your tickets, he'll put them in the machine and get a fastpass for every DL park tix-don't forget to grab your park tix when done!) and then you and your kids can go line up for Tiki Room or Winnie the Pooh.

Another thing to consider is that fastpasses are based upon availability. At least they were last time I was there. So on the super busy days, they tend to run out early. You may not want to plan your day around the fastpass.

I was last there in August and they would run out mid day but then put the fastpass back up in the evenings. But not on all rides....very strange!

And a word of advice- absolutely take advantage of fastpass for the Buzz Lightyear ride at DL! The ride is super cute and my son LOVED it! We got a fastpass, went on Space Mtn, came back and rode Buzz and immediately got another fastpass when we got off the ride! Other folks were waiting for over 2 hours!! Probably because it was a newer ride, but still...that's nuts! We went on it twice in a 2 hour time frame plus went on Space Mtn and did a little shopping.:cool1: Worked great!

If you haven't already, check out allears.net and click the tab for DL at the top. It should list current policies for fastpass and the rides using it. Plus it has other great info, like pictures of the rides (helpful in planning who rides with who) and menus- I love this site!

Good luck and have fun!!:goodvibes

In order to get the child swap ticket you are supposed to be entering to ride the ride right then. So as part of your party gets in line for the ride you ask the CM there for the child swap card. Many (or most) of the CMs will want to actually see the child who isn't riding. Then part of you group rides while the other 2 wait. Then you can use the child swap card later in the day. You don't need a FP to use the Child Swap. It will basically work like one for 2 members of your group.

So when you get there head over to Indy, and grab 3 FP. (save one for later) By the time you arrive Indy will have a line. So I would then go ride some rides in FL until your FP time comes. 2 of your group rides Indy using the FP and also asks for the child swap. After the 1st 2 ride, then use the child swap to have 2 more (someone gets to ride twice) ride. You could grab the FP for Splash (or more on Indy) as soon as your Indy FP window opens to max. your timing.

You are going to need at least 2 FP for the first 2 members of your group to ride. One FP will only get one guest in. I would go ahead and get all 3 FP each time. You will only need to use 2 for all of you to ride (using child swap) That will leave you with one extra FP. Depending on how quickly the FP go, you may be able to get 3 more FP for later in the day and do the same thing again (2 ride with FP, get child swap-2 ride again) This will leave you with 2 extra FP to use and you can do the same thing one more time. With 6 FP for Indy, and 3 child swaps, your DS could ride it 6 times and you and your DH could each ride 3 times.

This works best if you can get there in the a.m., but it may still work later in the day. Just know that your return times will get later and later (though you never have to wait more than 2 hours for your next FP)

Does this make sense?

BTW, June 22nd will probably be pretty crowded. No AP are blocked out and it's the last day before a block out period for 2 of them. Look for the crowd level to grow towards the evening when locals come in for the fireworks, WOC, and F!

What I was thinking is this: we have 3 tickets, so we can get 3 fastpasses and both rides do child swap. We could use one fastpass at each ride and also do child swap at both rides to maximize the fastpasses. Would that work?

Absolutely! We do the same thing and it works great. :thumbsup2

The fastpass is ride specific... so, to do the childswap thing at Splash let's say... you'll arrive, get your FPs (get one for each of you--you'll have a spare then) that can ride. You'll then have to wait for the return time (could be in an hour, or could be 6 hours later, or anytime in between there...) When it is your return time (on the FP), you'll go to the cm, tell them you need a child swap pass and point to your dh and baby, and they'll give you a swap pass. Then after you and your kiddo ride, your dh can take the kiddo and use the swap pass and ride again while you stay with the baby...

As others have posted, you can only get 1 FP per person at a time (you have to wait until the FP is usable to get another one...) So you can't load up with both Indy and Spash at the same time... especially getting there so late in the day, because the return time could be hours away.

Get it??

I see from your siggie you have 2 that won't ride Indy and one that may ride Splash... if so do this:

Get 1 FP for Indy and 2 FP for Splash right off the bat.

When you get in line to actually ride the ride you will get your child swap pass which is good for 2 people to return to the FP line. If your son rides Splash with the FP, he can also return with the other parent and ride Splash again.

THE BEST UTILIZATION IS THIS, IF YOUR SON ISN'T GOING TO RIDE A FP ATTRACTION OR IS WILLING TO WAIT FOR THE SECOND ADULT TO RIDE:
If your son won't ride Splash, then get 1 FP for Indy, 1 for Splash and 1 at another attraction like Space. You can also do this if he decides to ride the ride only once and he can ride with the adult using the child swap.

I think I know what you mean and yes that should work. The machines don't know who is using the FP, so if you use your child's ticket to get an FP either one of you can use the third FP.

BTW, I just picked up "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland" and it said that you can use your FPs after the stated return time. I hope this is true because I'd like to wait and use them in the evening.

Yes it's true!!! Just has to be the same day.

You can use your FP anytime after the window has opened. We get our FP when we get there and use them later in the day when it's more crowded. Works great and most guests don't know they can do it.

YES!:thumbsup2

I would get the FP and do child swap while you wait. You may even have to go do another ride or kill some time before its time for your FP but it will work.

That is good news. I plan to pick up FPs as I can during the day while my DH is at the Convention Center and then use them in the evening when he is in the park. He'll have to come into the park in the morning so I can activate his ticket though.

Great idea!

FYI ~ my almost 7 year old isn't tall enough for Indy ~ 46 inches, but my DS was tall enough at not quite 6 years old. I'm hopin' she's tall enough this summer for her B~day trip!

You reminded me of the first time we took our DD on Indy. She went through the line in silent apprehension, and then screamed her head off as soon as she was settled in her seat.:scared1: As we exited the ride she stormed off and turned around and said "Ask me if I liked that ride...answer... N O!" We still crack up about that. She was 7 and half at the time.

100% YES!!! We used a similar method as well and it worked great. Not once did we have to actually get in line when asking for a child swap, however there were a couple instances where they actually wanted to see the child. We had 3 adults and 3 children (one of which was 2 years old) so it worked out well for us and cut back on waiting times.

Good luck and have a great time!
