we're planning on going to Hawaii for our 35th anniversary:love: later this yr

Ive been reading on the SW cc with 50,000 points offer

our plan is to fly from Milwaukee to LA and spend the nite in LA and then start the package from LA to Ohau the package would be over $5000 by adding it to the package much cheaper doing that part separtely from the package

so my idea now is to get the SW cc-- charge up to the requierments (I think its $3000) for the trip and use the miles for the Mke to LA travel

We use our Disney Visa for travel to get the points for disney vacations and I hate having to pay a yearly fee which I would cancel after we use the points up for travel--

so you think this would be the cheapest way to do things

one way flight on SW from Mke to LA is 163 non stop with good times--

we really dont need nor want another cc but free flights is so tempting

also have any had any luck getting them to waive the yearly fee

thanks all--planning this trip is so different from any Disney trip!!!

I don't have any info on the credit card question, but...

I've taken my family to Hawaii 3 different times and have priced out hotels, flights, rental cars both separately and as a package. I always got a much better price paying for each component separately. The package was always more expensive for me. If you haven't already, price out everything to see which way is least expensive.

Car rental - For the car rental try Discount Hawaii Car Rental. We got the best prices through them.

Flights - We did exactly what you are planning this past July. All on one ticket - we flew from Baltimore to LAX, stayed 5 days, flew to Kauai, stayed 7 days, flew to Oahu, stayed 4 days and then flew back to Baltimore. I searched for our plane tickets on Kayak using the "multi city" tab. Buying a multi city ticket was only about $50 more per person than buying a ticket from Baltimore to Kauai and back. The multi city ticket was also MUCH less expensive than purchasing separate flights for each leg of our trip. I started looking in February for our July 2013 trip. The multi city ticket cost $850 then and by May had gone up to $1100.

Hope this info helps. Have a WONDERFUL anniversary trip!!!!
