Would this be a problem?

We travel to Disney parks with two toddlers. As a result, we're always looking for more things to amuse them with in lines and while waiting for shows and such. Last year we bought a box of 900 glow sticks to for dark rides and evening trips to the parks. We ended up giving plenty them away to kids who looked like they could use them (and had lots of fun doing it).

This year I'd like to get the kids stickers and tattoos because my daughter is sticker and tattoo obsessed. The stickers I want come in rolls of either 100 or 600 (depending on size). That's a lot of stickers, especially since one of them likes Mickey and friends and one likes princesses. The tattoos I can only get good prices on if I buy them by the gross (144).

Does anyone think there would be a problem if we shared extra disney-licensed stickers or tattoos with strangers in the parks? The tattoos are 1.5" and the stickers are either 2" or 7/8". We don't look like Cast Members, so I don't think there would be a problem of holding ourselves out as something we aren't... we'd just like to share a little pixie dust.

Ordinarily I wouldn't worry about it, but since Santa got kicked out of DisneyWorld, and they are licensed stickers...

hmm... video game? :P

i noticed anything that glows are pretty interesting. the Princess Chasers or Buzz Chasers are quite fun to play with...

i stared at the Disneyland spinners for about an hour the first time i ever saw it :P

anyhow, i doubt you have a problem with it, they have people facepaint their face, i dont see why not... if not, just wash it off.
and Santa only got kicked out because it kinda destroyed the magic...

I would think that if you were just offering them to people that you are striking up conversations with in line that it would be ok. I wouldnt just walk up to people at random in the park and hand them out. Sometimes people get a little nervous about their child accepting something from a stranger. The only other problem I can think of, is Disney might not be happy about kids having stickers that they can stick on things. They used to have promotions now and then, and give out stickers. But then they would have to go around at night and pick them off trash cans, tables, light poles, floors, etc. They can get messy!

I think the spirit of your thread is with good intentions.
I also think you are trying to be generous to those around you.

That said, I would not want anyone offering my child (who is grown now) a tattoo. Even though I know it is obviously a temporary one with Disney characters. As a parent, I would be mad and offended.

Sorry, but you asked for opinions.

I agree with this poster. At my DDs gymnastics, they put a sticker on each girls hand at the end of their session. Within 5 minutes the sticker is gone and instead the entire floor of the waiting room and change room are riddled with old ones stuck to the ground. And those are the unintentional losts -- many youner children might take the stickers and put them elsewhere rather than on their body. I had a friend whose DD3 decalled her car

My DDs love stickers too, but I don't see how it would keep them occupied outside. They prefer to decorate papers or put them in their sticker books.

I have no problem with your handing out small things (non-food of course) to other chidren while in line to keep them entertained. I think it's very sweet of you to think of others. Perhaps the tattoo idea is better because the parent could keep it for later or use it at their discretion.

When my DDs were toddlers, small bubble blowers kept them occupied. After 3, they were quite content to people watch and I didn't need to carry around extra distractions -- except for food of course ;)

I haven't ever been to DLR, just WDW - does DLR not give out Mickey stickers to kids at the gate/in shops like WDW does?

I do appreciate all the comments, if I hadn't wanted to know how people felt, I wouldn't have asked. :)

We had tentatively thought that yes, we'd just give them out to people who were around us while we waited for extended periods of time. We've always asked the parents first if their children could have glows, so I would certainly do the same for stickers or temp tattoos - especially since there are allergy issues involved.

Our little ones just put the stickers on their clothes and bodies, so it hadn't occurred to me that other kids would want sticker books or paper or whatnot to stick them to. That's a good point. Since they're on individual backings they could reasonably be saved for later, but that's a hassle for parents.

I think that we're going to have 11 hours in airports and airplanes and then 2-3 days in the car to get to DLR, so I may just plan to use up any excess stickers/tattoos in transit or after we get back.

We were amazed at all the stickers offered to our kids at WDW from the CMs! I wish DL would do this. We've gotten the occasional sticker from Goofy's Kitchen, Plaza Inn, City Hall, but usually no stickers like at WDW.

I think your idea is sweet, but as a very suspicious Mom and not wanting my kids to think it's okay to take stuff from strangers, I would be rude and tell them they couldn't take what you were offering. But I am very parnoid!!!

I would also not let my kids take tatoos, after hearing of people lacing them with something harmful, dont rember what. I am parionoid and also try to teach my kids not to take anything from strangers. I know you mean well but it is hard being a parent.

Well I wouldn't tell my kids they couldn't take it, and it would be nice but I am just wondering how on earth stickers will keep them busy in line. It takes about 2 seconds to peel a sticker and put it on, and in some lines that would mean they'd be covered in 100 stickers by the time you got on.

Stickers would not keep my kids busy since they are not something that's fun to play with. Once you stick it, you're done. Not much fun after that. Unless you're decorating paper or something fun, I don't see how it would work. Then again, I don't know your kids so maybe it will. Just don't want you to order 1000 stickers and realize they don't keep them busy very long.

Yes, its amazing at how many stickers they give out at WDW. Big, round ones with Mickey on it. Every turnstile and many of the cm's who walk around playing games with kids before parades and fireworks hand them out. I have never seen this at Disneyland. They are also handing out "Best Kept Secret" DVC stickers right and left at Disneyland. I have seen so many people at WDW hadning out glow sticks, stickers, bubbles, all sorts of stuff to other families. But I never see that at Disneyland. I think at WDW most of the people there are tourists, on vacation and it just makes for a different atmosphere.

It's amazing at what will keep a toddler (or teenager!) busy! My kids LOVE to pull out those little sticky flag things you use to mark a page! A few of those and a pad of post-it's and they'd be happy for an hour. One hour down, 5 to go! (I also wouldnt let my kids take tatoo's) But if you offered us a sticker, I'd offer you a sticky flag!

My kid learned to play eye spy and 20 questions, that can keep you busy in line for hours............

abby - that's a good one I forgot about, we all love to play eye spy!! Even our 3 year old has fun although sometimes the thing she was spying isn't exactly in sight, lol!

I too would let my kids accept the gift , but wonder how long you could play with the stickers, try I spy , 20 questions , and yes people watching ....also get a list of hidden Mickeys , that may keep their eyes busy for awhile. Now how to keep us adults occupid in line....thats the problem:confused3

That is very nice of you!

My DS would love stickers (or tatoos) from other DL guests. The kindness of strangers is what often makes our vacations more magical. I think the kindness can also be contagious!

Great idea!
