Would they push dev points to Dec 2009?

Hi all! I've been doing lots'o research on DVC and I'm interested in the current incentive being offered by the mouse. BUT! I'm wondering if the 100 dev points they're offering at SSR may be pushed to December of '09 vs September. We'll be there September 12th-19th this year but we were planning an early December trip for next year for our 10th anniversary. I would love to take a trip in September next year as well but our DS will be starting kindergarten and I'd rather not pull him out at the beginning of the school year, kwim?

Also do you get 11 month booking privileges with those developer points? TIA! You all are a wealth of info!

If sales stay slow they will still offer developer points. The last I heard the developer points can only be used at 7 months.

I think you need to use your developer points within a year of purchase. Also you can only book at 7 months out. You could either...

-wait to buy DVC til December or
-rent out your developer points and use the money toward Dec trip or
-take a trip in Aug/Sept (before school starts) with dev points and in December with your new points.

When we purchased our add-on in May we were told that we could bank the dps, which we did. There was no mention of having to use them within a year. I hope that's not the case!

really? I would love to know if this has worked for anyone else. If it does than it is awesome because we are planning to add on this fall and would like to use dev points to go in December next year too.

edit...i just looked at my postcard that I received about adding on. It says "developer points may be booked for reservation no more than 7 months before and vacation must be completed within 12 months of contract date or developer points will expire". sorry. this is what I had thought.

To add to that, there will be a document describing developer point usage in your closing documents. It gives a clear picture as to how and when you can use the points. I bring this up because our guide at the time misrepresented the developer points saying that they could be used at any time just like our other allotment of points. This was cleared up for us when we tried to make our first reservation at the 11 month mark.

Short of it all - whatever is in writing via a legal document is binding. Nothing else matters.

Did you get 2008 UY points with your add-on? I'm wondering if it was your regular allotment of points that was banked because developer points are not bankable. You might want to double check with MS about this.
