Would my 11 year old son be interested in Kennedy Space Center?

Is this more geared towards adults? We are thinking of going in Jan. and wondered if it would be interesting to our 11 year old. Thanks

I would think that he would love it, if he's interested in space and that sort of thing. We just took my six year old last week, and it was a HUGE hit with him. He's really into space, watches everything we can find on the Discovery Chanel about space, etc. Sure, some of the complicated stuff went over his head, but he still got a lot out of it and had a great time. He has watched shuttle launches on TV and YouTube and he was thrilled to see the launchpad and walk through the space shuttle display. He LOVED walking through the space station model, seeing the huge Saturn rocked, exploring the Rocket Garden, seeing the Imax movie, and much more. It was a great day for all of us!

It depends on your son. When I was 11 I loved Disneyland but was not much interested in other historic or similar things. I probably would have though the Space Center was fine but not great. I did finally visit it when I was 41 and it was great. :)

Hi, just about the time I say "No, I don't think so" your 11 year old will be a prodigy and my advice will be have looked really dumb!!

About 70% of the exibit has to do with the Mercury and Saturn programs that preceded and included the moon missions in the 60's and 70's. Very interesting but it will be new history to an 11 year old. I might wait a few years and take him to Gatorland this time...Buy him some hot dogs to feed the gators and take in the shows and most kids love being that close to 15 foot alligators...
Good Luck...

:rotfl2: Funny. So how is that gatorland???

In all honesty, our grandkids, ages 9 and 12 probably enjoyed Gatorland better than anywhere else, minute for minute. You can do Gatorland easy in 5 hours and there are no lines, no waiting, just tons of Gators of all sizes, up close and personal, and some fun interactive shows with live gators and other colorful and "cool" reptiles.
Easy to get to from anywhere around Disney.

Good Luck with your decision...hard to go wrong with an 11 year old!!!

WOW I didn't know it had that much to do ....to last 5 hours. Very neat. I will check that out.

My boys, ages 8 and 10 at the time, LOVED Kennedy Space Center. They love science and history though, so that might have helped. I guess it depends on you and your son...my husband and I really enjoyed KSC, so I'm sure that helped.

Thank you. I am looking for new things to do when we travel to Orlando since we go often and own off site and DVC timeshares.
Just wondering, can we bring our own hot dogs to Gatorland? I think I could probably buy a lot instead of just buying there, unless they aren't too much.
Thanks.

I was very skeptical about going to KSC but it ended up being a great day out. You just have to go and see why America is so great. An 11 year old will enjoy it immensely if he has a sense of adventure.
