Hi everyone

Would love to get some feedback on these restaurants. Will be dining with 3 adults and 2 kids aged 8 and 11. The 8 year old will be fine with the kids menu but the 11 year old is actually rather adventurous when it comes to food. Thanks for any insight!

The Wave
Kouzzina (note I am deathly allergic to goats and sheeps milk and their associated cheeses which are often used in Greek cooking...should this be a definite miss for me?)
Cape May Cafe Clambake Dinner
Captains Grille
Tony's Town Square
Tutto Italia
Via Napoli
Mama Melrose's
House of Blues

Thanks again!

I found the wave and kouzinna to be excellent as well as the captains grille. Mama melrose we do not like, very busy and not that good. Never been to house of blues, as for via napoli and tut to italia I have heard good things but that is three italian restaurants on your list it may be italian overload unless you really like it or plan to order an overpriced pizza from via napoli. As for Tonys (which actually I think is a 4th italian restaurant) I have heard bad things pretty consistently about that place. Cape May cafe imo is extremely overrated but I don't eat crab. People say there is enough other stuff to keep non-crab eaters happy but I would disagree about that, and I would also disagree with those who love their desserts, they are just ok. If you decide to change anything the restaurants that we love are Boma, Kona Cafe, Ohana, Rose and Crown. Stay away from Chefs de France like the plague.

Lol! I know it's Italian overload, I realized as I was typing, haha! I handed them a list of restaurants and told them to circle the ones they might be interested in and the ones I'm asking about here are the ones that I haven't been too. Personally I'm not going to Disney for Italian food I can make at home so I'm hoping to have those as our "plan B" places but if one is spectacular then I have no problems trying to book it.

Thanks for the feedback on the other places, much appreciated!

well for what its worth I would go back to Kouzinna, The wave. and the captains grille in a heartbeat. I would do mama melrose ONLY if I got the fantastic package since there are no other restaurants in hollywood studios that appeal to me that have it. Also I have heard (but cannot confirm) that with the fantastic package you may get a appetizer at mama melrose even on the regular dining plan...I can't confirm that but I know I read it on the dis somewhere

We tried Tony's for our first time last week.

The Appetizers that we had..Toasted Cheese and Garlic Bread & Zucchini Fries were great.

Our Entrees were pretty good. OK...butnot special...we both left about 1/2 of ours. I got Chicken Parmigiana & my DH got Tony's Flatbread. It wasn't bad by no means...but just not anything special.

Our desserts ...Pistachio Creme Brulee & Assorted Gelato were pretty good.

Tony's is not really on our repeat list for our next trip...but I imagine we will eat there one day.

This trip we found that...Flying Fish, California Grill, Coral Reef, San Angel Inn, Artist Point & Ohana for supper were our favorites.

If you are trying to substitute something for one of your Italian nights... I would think that your kids would enjoy Teppan Edo. Plenty to pick from if your youngest is picky since they have chicken and steak hibachi and it is fun to watch them cooyour food tableside.

I took DD and her BFF (both 11) last year. They loved Le Cellier (their fave although not on your list), Captain's Grille and Kouzina the most and were happy with Mama Melrose and Cape May. Those are the only one's on your list.

We've only eaten at TS's in the parks, but enjoyed 50's Prime Time, Rose and Crown, San Angel Inn. Unless you go to R&C during Illuminations, probably nothing over the top for the kids to enjoy, but 50's antics are fun and San Angel is so pretty!!! We love Mexico and have been many times so it just brings that all back for us!

For our upcoming trip, I booked Raglan Road. I think my ds10 and ds12 would like the step dancers and stuff.

I also booked O'hana based on reviews here...just seemed like a must do.:confused3

We also booked Mama Melrose for the f! pkg. I figured the kids would like (ok hubby too) not having to wait so long to see the show!

Have fun!

Via Napoli is very good.

Mama Melrose was a complete nightmare. Had to wait 45 minutes after our ADR to get seated, bad service and food was average at best. Only bad TS experience from our last trip.

All your choices are great. The only one i would change is Tony's. Its the worst meal we've ever had in our lives. My son always double checks with me to make sure I dont book that restaurant for future trips. The food is that bad. I even went to Tony's with very low expectations due to the poor reviews. Never again. Save yourself, go somewhere decent. (if it matters, the atmosphere is pretty lame too).

Agree with the others on Tony's. I didn't think it was awful but not one I'd go back to any time soon. With the other three Italian restaurants on your list, this will definitely come in sub-par.

Via Napoli was one of our favorites. If you decide to eliminate some Italians, I'd keep this one.

Never done HOB at DTD but I've been to HOB in the Northeast and I think it's just mediocre. I try to stay away from the chains at WDW and only do things unique to Disney while I'm there, but that's just my opinion. :thumbsup2
