We'll be doing the MK on this day and will probably exit the park around 4pm' ish. I'd like to try one of the restaurants at the Poly. Would you recommend the Luau, O'hana's or Kona cafe ?

We have ressies for the Hoop de doo this night but I'm thinking of cancelling them since we've already done it on our last trip and I don't feel like spending $300 + for a meal.

I've also read good things about Boma's at the AK. We just wanted to try something we haven't done before and a restaurant that doesn't require park entry.

TIA ~

Off all the options given, I like Boma the best. The resort is very nice and you can enjoy the night time animal viewing with the night goggles after dinner. BUT you may be hard pressed to find a reservation there at this late date.

We just ate at Kona last week. Everything was fantastic & we'd definately go back. I had the filet mignon and could cut it with a butter knife!! DH had the shrimp and scallops and said they were the best scallops he's had in a very long time.

I haven't eaten at the other places so I can't comment on which is best, but we liked Kona. :goodvibes

We have eaten at all 3 in the Poly...and really enjoyed them all.

My fav was O'hana. Everything was great..the food and the service. I particularly loved the salad and the shrimp. The atmosphere is fun. Try to get a table in the grill room..you can watch them cook the skewers.

My kids love the Luau...they loved the food and the show. I thought the service was outstanding. I food is fairly kid friendly....can't go wrong with chicken.

Kona would be the better meal.

The Luau would be fun if you've always wanted to see one and you haven't seen one before but don't expect much in the way of food.

'Ohana gets lots of good reviews and a recent change in their menu (putting the grilled shrimp back) has gotten it a place on our "maybe we should go back there sometime" list. Yeah, faint praise...

On my last trip, we ate at Ohanas, and even with the new menu changes, I still put it at #1 on the Disney Dining list. Absolutely everying is just so unrealistically good that it can't be passed up. :goodvibes

breakfast and dinner are wonderful.

I'm ready to go back to O'hana, though (haven't been there in years!)

We eat at Kona every trip, and will be having an early dinner there next week as we take a break from the MK.

I also like Ohana, but have only eaten there once in the last couple of years. I think Kona was relaxing with excellent food. I did not find Ohana relaxing at all - kind of hyped up the whole time, but I liked the food a lot. Not everyone in our party did. I would go back, though.

We ate at Kona before the most recent menu changes and we loved it. It was one of our favorite meals of the trip. I am a bit skeptical of the changes, however.
We ate at 'OHana and I loved it. DH and adult DS thought it was okay - not great. I ate there again on my next trip with DS and his children and it was wonderful. The food is good and the kids loved the games and interaction.
I have read mixed reviews about the food and entertainment at the Luau. I can not comment, I have not been.
We love HDDR. Yes it is expensive, but we think it is a great evening.
Have a Great Trip.

I would go with Boma or Ohana. We ate at Kona and both DH and I got sick from it. It's the only time that Disney food has ever made us physically ill.

I've eaten MANY times at the Kona Cafe, several times at 'Ohana, and twice at Boma. I liked all 3, but my all-around favorite restaurant at WDW is the Kona Cafe. We love all 3 meals there.

Having said that, you might really enjoy having dinner at 'Ohana because the food is plentiful (we love the salad, sticky wings, potatoes, veggies, and DH likes the shrimp. The meat is always hit or miss but we've never had "bad" meat), it's fun to just sit back and relax and listen to the ukulele player sing and entertain the kids in the restaurant (and we don't even have young children! lol), and enjoy a great fruity drink (the drinks we order are not included in the price, but soda is included). :sunny:

I have pictures of a lot of the food from all of the above mentioned restaurants on my web site; click the link below in my signature, then click on the "Walt Disney World Vactions" link, then find the various resort and restaurant pages. Enjoy! :surfweb:

Is Kona on the 2nd floor in just set out in the open type of place? Where is 'Ohana and what is the atmosphere like? We have DS6 + DD3.

I'd definitely recommend Kona. We go there at least twice every trip - consistently great food and service.

I went to the luau once - it was okay, but kind of expensive. The food was fine (not great, but good) and the entertainment was fun, but for the amount of money you spend, I'd go to Kona instead.

Have never done O'Hana - can't give you my feedback there.

(One other place to try at the Poly is Tambu Lounge - they have the best lettuce wraps I've ever eaten! And it's pretty healthy food, and reasonably priced! What a great find on our last trip.)

I made ADR's for Kona. Thanks everyone for the input. I'm sure it'll live up !! We're also going to stop at the Tambu Lounge.
Not sure if we'll eat there, but we'll probably grab a Lapu Lapu........or two !

Also made ADR's for Yak & Yeti at AK. Looking forward to eating there too.

Thanks Again !!!
