Would it be stupid/corny to decorate my window/door at Riverside?

I decorated my window at Pop last December for Christmas, and it was so much fun! And it made it really easy to spot our room at night, with the lights in the window! :cool1:

We decorate too. Keeps the kids busy while we unpack and helps them find the room easier. It's fun and I think you should go for it.

I personally love decorating the doors and windows. It adds to me and my family's happiness. Ya know on dcl, people go all out decorating doors. And it's so much fun to tour the boat. Anyway, maybe that's why I'm a value/mods type of gal. When I stay at deluxe I feel like it's too stuffy sometimes.

I personally don't like the idea of decorating doors or windows. I think that it takes away from the resort theme and the overall feeling of the resort. I'm glad it's not allowed at DVC resorts and it should also not be allowed any deluxe resorts. Sorry, but that's just my opinion.

Deluxe resorts also don't permit decorating doors because they are all interior corridors and not outside entrances. I remember reading about a guest at AKL who was asked to remove the door decorations they had on their door.

There are plenty of people who don't like it. But what I really don't like is the "do not care if some people don't like it" attitude.

We did a few decorations on our window, we used sticky tac to hold things up. I love the idea of decorating and making the space your own and I just wish I was as creative as some people lol.

Is this a Christmas thing?
I have never see anything on any door or window but I have not been at Christmas since I was really young
I can see the thoughts/opinions o it taking away from the resort, on the flip side I don't think it would bother me much

I really enjoy seeing the decorated windows! I decorated for our Easter trip and several mousekeepers complimented me on it. It's a fun way to prepare for the trip, I already have ideas for our upcoming Halloween trip.:goodvibes

We'll be there POR in 10 days. I was planning to decorate our door for my sister's "unbirthday." Any thoughts on using tape on the door? My plan was to put a picture collage & a big piece of paper with a pen so that people could wish her a happy birthday, too. I hope it's okay, because I think it's gonna happen!

I think you'll be ok with the tape. As long as you don't hammer, drill, or crazy glue, you should be fine. I'm not one who would decorate the window or the door, but I like your idea!

We decorated our POR window in December. We used gel clings and left a few animals in the window. There were probably 3 other rooms in our building that were decorated. We loved it! And I personally don't think the decorations took away from the resort. I think it added to the charm.
I plan on decorating again in September for my birthday trip.

We decorate our window and doors. Mardi Gras theme or Christmas or just characters. I have a bag of Disney character magnets we put on the door. Some people may think it is not tasteful but I find an extra little bit of magic when we are in the room and hear the little children outside finding there favorites. I also bring gift bags, one for each of us to have in the room. example last ones were red with a big mickey head on them, each with our name (I added a red & white polka dot bow to mine) so when we come in from the park and empty our pockets of receipts, etc it is all put away. Before we leave the room I sit them on top of the Armorie. IMO it helps mousekeeping from trying to clean around the "junk".

Sorry, no tape. Disney has asked that guests not use tape or other substances that leave a residue or could mark the surface.

We get Mickey heads from Home Depot (luckily I still have some) and tape these to our door with a pen. We ask peoples to sign in with first name, and where they are from. We went during "What will you Celebrate" and put that on a big Mickey-head. Many people signed our Mickey's and told us why they are there celebrating. It was great to save these as part of our memories from our trip.

Also, we put all of our purchases on a table by the window, and keep the blinds open. We also decorate the window with our purchases. We have gotten comments from other guests that it looks like a store window, and that makes me super happy!!!

Definitely decorate your door/room/window. Enjoy yourself!!

It is very common to see window decorations at the mods and values. They are fun and in my opinion, do not detract from the theme of the resort.

There are always some who will disagree but for the most part, its just one of the many "only at Disney do you see this" things that most of us enjoy.

And for the last time, the OP is talking about POR, NOT a DVC.

personally, i've never seen a single door/window decorated in any hotel i've ever stayed in, disney or otherwise.

i think if i were to see one i'd find it fairly tacky, to be honest. i mean, you're at disney, so obviously you like disney. do you really need to show your temporary neighbors you like disney? its safe to assume they already know you do.

She's not staying at a DVC, she's staying at POR. Are the rules different for DVC resorts vs. the othe resorts?

I don't think it's stupid to decorate, as long as you don't do anything permanent or ruin anything, op.

The problem with that is even just using suction cups on the windows leaves marks that housekeeping does not have time to clean after every guest. Setting items on the inside window ledge not a problem.

No tape on the door can damage the paint finish when left in the Florida heat. And when that unsupervised teen writes on the door not the paper?

OK, not intending to offend any of the posters on this thread but I just don't understand. The rooms already have lots of Disney touches so, are we adding more? Why?

Would just going out and enjoying actually being at Disney be better than spending time decorating?

As I say, I really don't understand.
