for us to arrive at disney on a Saturday night 10/30/04 and get a room for 1 night at a value resort. We were going to arrive sunday morning and that is when our reservation package starts but my husband wants to leave earlier which means we would probably arrive sat night and need a place to sleep. My dh does not want to reserve a room in advance in case we do not get there by sat night but I am worried that if we don't we will not find anything or pay outragious prices.

I doubt you could get a walk up at Disney on Halloween weekend.

However you can book something nearby with a 6pm day of arrival cancellation and if you see you are not going to make it, you can cancel it.

Since that is Saturday night of Halloween weekend, there's a good chance you won't be able to stay on site without booking in advance. You won't really know though, until you get there.

However, I wouldn't worry about it - just plan to stay off site that night if you have to. With the number of hotel rooms in Orlando, you're bound to find a decent room somewhere for a reasonable price. FWIW, I wouldn't want to pay disney prices for just a place to sleep, anyway!

I guess we will just play it by ear and see what happens. Hopefully I won't have to sleep in my car. Ow and yes we are driving from PA.

If you're driving through Ocala, you can stop at the Disney welcome center and check on availablity before you even get there. That way you will know where to go in advance on site or off.

I also had the idea of the Ocala Welcome Center. We've done similar things in the past. My luck has always been great at just calling our hotel before we leave the house and seeing if we can come in a day early. Since you are already about to be a guest there, they are very accomodating.
