Go to MNSSHP the night we arrive? Here's the back story. We are arriving on Sunday 9/28 at about noonish. If there are military tickets we will only have 4 day passes. The kicker is that we have never been and this is our first trip. Would it be too confusing to do the Halloween party before actually seeing the park? :confused3

We tried this a couple of years ago, and won't do it again!

We had a 6:00am flight (meaning we were up at 4:00)...which was delayed on the runway for 2hrs due to a computer problem.

This means we arrived at our resort too late to do much of the unpacking/resting we thought we were going to do. We enjoyed the party, but were exhausted. Our daughter somehow managed to walk straight into one of the brick 'walls' on the bridge by Crystal Palace..it just wasn't the best night!

I'm sure we would have enjoyed it more if we did it a different night during our trip.

Why not? Go at 4 p.m. when they let party-goers in, and enjoy all the firsts on a party night - which will have extra special parades, trick-or-treating, dance parties, and treats!

Over the years I have stopped planning things for our arrival day as getting up for an early flight or travel delays can cause problems and we prefer to relax, unpack, explore our resort and or pool and hit the parks running on day two. We do usually go for 10 days though, and if you have a shorter trip you may want to do it anyway. Just consider how your family will handle a long day. If you think they can handle it go for it.

We did last year! Everyone told me we were crazy... Especially w/ a 3 & 6 year old! However, it was perfect! It was a great way to start off our trip! I am very familiar w/ the park though, it wasn't our first rodeo! But... IMHO if this is your only time/day to go them do it! MNSSHP is one reason I love going in October!

I would say go for it!

Research the party before you go, and set aside specific things YOU want to do.
I highly suggest making sure you don't miss the parade, fireworks, and villians mix & mingle.

I've done a quick weekend trip where we flew in from Western Canada, checked in, changed into costumes, and flew off to the party, and had a blast. We had done the parties before, but still got there before official party start at 7!

Get to MK for 4pm and get in using the party tickets and it'll be a blast!

We always do the party, whether it's at Halloween or Christmas, on the day of arrival. We usually arrive at the resort around 3:30, and then head to the party around 4:45-5:00. Then we also spend an entire day at MK on the same trip.

if you are driving so you are more than likely going to be there on time - then yes.

if you are flying - risky. once our flight was delayed from Detroit to Orlando. didn't arrive until after 9pm (10pm to hotel). people were missing adr's. not fun. WWe were grumpy because it was the last day of the tea cup rides as they were being refurbished so we missed out on that for our trip.

We are flying, but our flight leaves at 7 am and lands in Orlando at 9:50am. Our trip is 8 nights/9days, but the last day we leave early. I am thinking I will go ahead and do MNSSHP on our arrival day because I would like to build in some relaxation time too. Plus we will go to the TOT bash and that will take up another night. I just want everyone to have fun without being so overtired they are miserable! :goodvibes
