Has anyone ever tried to use their points for an II exchange into the "Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara, North San Diego"? This is one resort I would love to visit and was wondering if I would be successful if I tried to exchanged in using my DVC points. Thanks.

I've seen the FS both in CA and AZ with my Starwood week. Usually off season weeks, like summer in AZ, early Dec in CA etc.

Usually they are studios or 1 brs. I do know one of the TUG gang got the Four Seasons in AZ for Thanksgiving, she saw it with her Starwood week and used her Hyatt to book it. Don't remember what unit size she got, but I'm guessing a 1br.

I think the FS is a tough trade, as many owners use their weeks or rent them out(the MF's are pretty steep and to be honest if I owned FS there would be a very small number of resorts that I would consider to be an even trade),

One just popped up this morning on the sightings board on TUG..

I had a trade in for for that resort for 10 months no match finally canceled the trade. Hope you have better luck.

The only reports I recall with DVC were for studios. Still it doesn't hurt to ask. Put in a request and see what happens, just do so early

Thanks guys, I know FS is a very hard trade, I have heard/read so many nice things about the resort that I would love to visit it in the next couple of years. I'm thinking 2010 or 2011, should I place my request now and just let it ride and see what happens, or am I to early.

I'd place it now for the weeks you can (2 years out), then adjust the dates as you get closer but you are too early for late 2010 and for 2011. There are two advantages of requesting early. One is that you want to be on the list WHEN units come in, the other is that date of request is a tiebreaker WHEN all other parameters are about the same.

We snagged a 2br FSA unit using a "blue studio" from another timeshare a few years back. Nice unit ... but I didn't care much for the location. (Note: I'm a local ... and was trying to commute to work from the resort. Ugh.)

I've read that summer weeks are extremely difficult trades but see the occasional off-season (fall, winter) weeks when searching II. I would think DVC should pick up these off-season weeks more readily than [the other timeshare I've been using for searches].

I do see FSA when searching with my Marriott but my husband doesn't want me to use this week for the exchange, he would rather me use my DVC week. I plan on putting in a request and sit and wait and hope the exchange comes through. Send some pixie dust my way and wish me luck.

Thanks to all who responded to my post.
