Would anyone go to BCV w/out kids? What would you do?

Occasionally, when our kids are older, they may want to go on some of the more adventursome trips with their cousins (i.e. white water rafting, snowmobiling), instead of going to Disney for the second time that year. (We are trying to scrape enough together for 2 weeks) We would then have BCV points leftover. Instead of renting the points out, would it make any sense to go ourselves? Would there be enough to do?

We like walking around Epcot at night, all of the great restaurants in the Epcot area, the roller coaster at MGM, Typhoon Lagoon when not horribly crowded, and Illuminations. Everything else we pretty much do for the kids. Are there other things that adults can do in WDW? We are especially interested in things which would be relaxing.

Please pardon me if this question is very ignorant. Until DVC, we never really anticipated having time to ourselves in WDW!

Thanks!

If you don't have a problem going off property...it is well worth it to try Church Street Station. Its wonderful and much better than Pleasure Island.

depends upon when you go - I like the first two weeks of December - there is plenty to go - plus everything is decorated - so you need a day just to visit the other resorts.

I have heard that Oct and Nov when the food fiesta is going at Epcot it can be fun. have not done this one yet.

Last year we went in May to the Flowers and Garden Show - well we are going back this year.

I don't like to go in summer - too crowded!!!! and much TOO HOT. so I can't tell you anything about that time.

Church Street Station was closed down when I was there last October. Stay down on International Drive or at WDW.

I think that you would find a whole new appreciation of WDW as an adult couple without the kids. You might even find that many of the attractions take on a whole new complextion as an adult.

I'm a single adult that goes to WDW 2-3 times a year for about 8-10 days each trip and I almost never leave the property. I've been to WDW over 20 times since it opened and bought into DVC very early last year. (don't know why I didn't buy before) I've never been with children and have always had a fabulous time.

brittsmum1998, have they reopened Church Street? Last time I looked, it had been closed.

The new villa's look beautful. As an adult, I could really appreciate all the amendities it will provide. Getting to the parks will be a breeze, enjoying the surroundings at BCV will be like candy for my eyes and heart. I could stay up late enjoying the resort/parks and not worry about overtired children. My only worries will be, are my feet sore or what would "WE" like to do next - a drink by the pool, a nap, a park or some other activity.

My DH was worried we wouldn't have enough to do as adults at WDW. He had no interest in the MK until we did the "Keys to the Kingdom Tour". There are many tours at each of the parks, all kinds of classes and activies gear towards adults including photgraphy, gardening, drawing, cooking, golf .... At the Epcot Resort area alone, you have the Brewery, the Piano Bar, the Atlantic Dance, SPA's, Gym's. There are water activies- boating, skiing and the like; hiking, biking and running. Site seeing at each of the resort areas can be very entertaining. Every trip to WDW is different from the last. We try as least two new activities on each visit. This year my choice is the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian and my DH wants to do a Behind the Scenes Tour at Epcot. As my DH just mentioned, forget everything else and let yourself be a kid for awhile.

Relax and Enjoy

This last year I was there either by myself or with friends (all adults) a total of four times. Never left the property and we had a blast.

January 2001 I was there with six friends all of whom do not frequent WDW much. Before we left, they kept asking me what we would do for a week. By the end of our stay, they kept saying they didn't want to leave.

At least once every trip I have to go to Magic Kingdom to ride the HM and Buzz Lightyear. There are the behind the scenes tours which are great.

There's the Flower & Garden Show, the Food & Wine Festival, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (be sure to dress up); Osborn Family Lights, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, The Adventurers Club, Jellyrolls and on and on. I have a couple of friends now who are very willing to leave husband and kids and fly down with me. In fact in a couple of weeks one of these friends will fly down with her husband but is sending him home on the 22nd and staying with me and another friend for a few more days.

There is never enough time to do everything. Disneyworld is a very special place with kids but a magical place as well without them.

Enjoy!

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many day time recreational activities for adults.

BTW, someone had mentioned going to the GF for tea. I have heard that the tea is wonderful. I would also like to go to the spa. My only concern is: how do you get to the GF from BCV without wasting a lot of time? We generally do not rent a car when staying in WDW. I've tried buses and walking through Epcot/monorail and whichever way I choose it always seems like an odyssey!

Thanks again.

Going from resort to resort is one of the trickiest things about transportation in the wonderful world of Disney, but I'd say your best bet for BCV to GF is take the bus to the MK and hop the hotel monorail from there.

Of course, your actual mileage may vary.

Oh yeah, one thought about going sans kids: you don't have to work at warp speed to get everything in. Soak in the atmosphere; take time to look at flowers and gardens; examine all the nifty architectural details everywhere; visit with CMs without having an agenda, asking about their jobs, where they're from; tour other resorts; eat grown-up food. There's plenty to do. One of my favorite perches is to go up on the second level of the MK train station, look toward the castle, and watch the world go by. You'll have 40 years to do this! Yee-haah!

Thanks Dreamfinder2... and I thought my commute to work was bad! Maybe if we're sans kids, we'll stay in a GF studio for a couple of days to venture around that part of the world!

Well, Jellyrolls comes to mind...

Atlantic Dance might be fun.....

Since we had our honeymoon at the Grand Floridian, using the points to stay there would be nice as well.....

There's parasailing.....

Most of Epcot....

Gosh, I don't think it would be a problem for us....

Only kidding.....WDW is a fabulous resort and as DVC adults you'll probably grow to appreciate it more and more. If you are not rushing to see everything at the parks, you can stay in bed late and/or stay out late at night! The restaurants are fabulous. If you enjoy golf, tennis, sailing, fishing, race car driving, etc., etc. you can enjoy all those activities. You can go outside the world and explore the shops of Celebration. If you are there in March, you can go to the Bay Hill Invitational Golf Tournament.
You can spend time exploring the different resorts. You can have tea at the GF or go in the evening and enjoy a cocktail while the band plays. You can party at PI. To me, there's everything that you would do on a vacation "somewhere else" and it's all compact and guaranteed to be fabulous. You can also take your time in the parks and people watch, relax and enjoy the different shows, chat with the "characters" in MGM.

Going resort to resort by Disney transportation is the biggest problem. I always rent a car to have the freedom to move around the entire resort but don't use it for going to the parks. Cabs are also always readily available to take you from resort to resort. The cost can add up but the difference between spending an hour on Disney transportation vs. 15 minutes in cab are sometimes worth it.

I would go in a NY minute. What would I do? Have a wonderful time, like I do everytime I go to WDW.

In A Heartbeat. DW and I enjoy WDW more by ourselves without the kids because we can go to the places the kids don't appreciate. Start with An evening at the California Grill at the Contemporary resort. Make PS just before the fireworks at MK. Try having dinner at the Rose and Crown at Epcot and stay for Illuminations. Drink your way around the world starting with Margaritas at Mexico and wine tasting at Italy. Try going to Swan and Dolphin for great selection of restaurants. AK has the Dawa bar and we find this a great place to watch the parade (sit behind the section roped off for wheelchairs). Pleasure Island! Cirque de Soleil! Sunday Brunch at the HOB!:smooth:

DH and I are childfree adults and Disney addicts! I've been more times than I can count (50+ easy) and since I introduced him to WDW when we were dating, he's fallen in love with it too! We finally bought into DVC because we spend SO much time there and as soon as we leave, we're planning our next trip back!

We have taken relatives and nephews on trips in the past, and we enjoy showing "newbies" around. But we have a BALL by ourselves, just doing what we want to do. We do all the parks, all the rides, or maybe just relax and people-watch.

The point is, WDW is for kids of ALL ages. Don't be afraid to just DO IT!

We go down twice a yr, the first time with 16 yr old DD and her friend. The second time just the wife and I. As PamOKW stated, we sleep in, go to different new resorts, restraunts, Pleasure Island 3-4 nights (8 trax,Comedy Club, Cirque de Solie).Go to different movies, We are never bored when the wife and I go by ourselves, and we never step foot in a park!!!!:D

Whoooops, you mean I was SUPPOSED to bring my kids? Who knew? lol I'd go in a heartbeat......:D

LOL. Would you believe we are empty nesters and go to WDW about 8 times a year for 3, 4 or 5 days at a time. We enjoy WDW with our two 20 somethings but going as a couple is the ultimate if you are a true Disney fan (which I know we all are). The list of things to do are endless....just do a little research. We are in the process of doing an add-on at BCV so we can just lay at the pool during those lazy summer days....no parks just relaxation. Also, think Disney Cruise in the adult only areas....pure heaven. We have done three 7-night Disney cruises in 15 months (2 on points and one on cash) with a 3 night this Fall and hopefully a 7-night western carribbean to follow.

DVC for families is wonderful but DVC for empty nesters is outstanding!

:( DD is almost 4 and its been that long since we were at church street....I had no idea it had closed    I wonder if anyone has been there lately?
