Would anyone be interested in a Pal Mickey swap?

Was just taking to my sister about the mickey swap. She thought it was a good idea but She has a daughter that lives in FL and she thought that we should slip the cost and let her daughter and grand daughter keep Mickey. So I am going to back out. sorry to do this to everyone but I am glad you have time time find someone to replace my dates.

but not yet! I just wanted to thank you for your thoughts and DD called me last night and she was having a popsicle!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life is so much better for her right now. I just hope she will be well enough to go to Disney.

here is the reply on Pal Mickey..I would think they take the insides out first. I looked online what wet-cleaning really is.....it still gets wet!

Girls, I know what your going through havinga child in the hospital. My oldest (son 14) had surgery at 6 wks old. Talk about scared! Took him to the dr. for a checkup that morning, then straight to the hosp. for surgery that night. He was born with a condition called Poloricstynosis (spell ?) Basically his stomach muscles created projectile vomiting. You never knew when this would happen. He gained weight at first like any other baby.....but it got worse and he started to not gain. The Ped at first, kept telling me I didnt know what spit up was compared to projectile vomiting. After 5 1/2 wks of almost dailey visits to the dr. office......she told me not to bring back my child unless he threw up blood. Two days later, I went to a different dr. and the same day my son had the surgery. It was awful. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Katy, you will be surprised how quickly children bounce back. And you will wonder why you worried for nothing.

Southern

Dear Teresa,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Textile services does a "wet-clean" which is a non-toxic chemical clean (on the same order as
drycleaning) however, it does sterilize the article.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Peggy Bishop

No thanks are necessary, but each May swapper might consider and want to do as one of our May swappers is going to do, she is planning on taking what she would have paid and donating it to GKTW ;) she is even having her employer match her donation:sunny:

Here's the address:

Give Kids The World
210 South Bass Road
Kissimmee, FL 34746

I am still waiting to hear back from GKTW regarding the logistics of the Pal donation. Their website is down right now and my 2nd email has gone unanswered, I suppose that they are very busy this week, as is all of WDW.

The only other thing that needs your coordination is the list of names and the contact person for the tag that DMRick is generously offering to prepare. Wow 3 weeks from today and I'll be in Orlando!

I am glad to hear that your DD is feeling better. I 'm sure she'll be raring to go by the time your vacation is here.

DMRick if you could email or pm me with an example of the tag your creating, I would like to make a tag for the July pal mickey. I thinks its a good thing to include with all the pal mickeys.

Thanks, Southern4sure

It's just a laminated luggage tag. It's not been made, since first the decision has to be made as to the contact name on it. We were very lucky with the stroller swap to have Kathleen as a contact person who lived in FL and was willing to go hunting for the stroller when it was "lost" if need be. Also we had her phone number, so as to have a contact person away from Disney when something went wrong.

hi I would be looking to do a pal Mickey swap. My daughter is blind and I think this would be great for her to be hear were she is and a description of the area. We will be there from 5/8-5/14/04. If any one is able to do the swap that would be great. Pleas PM us. Thanks

I will add you to our list. I have also sent you a PM, could you please send me one back (that is how I am keeping track of everyone. Find PM box by clicking on words "User CP" at the top of every page.

I was going to collect all the money and foward it to the first person. That way I can collect good contact info to keep on hand in case of any problems. I will make our Mickey a tag he can wear and a little journal where we can leave a note to each other about our time with Mickey (optional, but fun). After we have everyone I will let the group decide how we pay for hand off days by vote.

Cleaning- I was just about to go online and see if anything better than wet naps is avaliable and easy. Otherwise a good wipe down with wet naps will be the protocal.

Kim,

Do you leave on the 8th, or did you just see someone already has him from the 8th on? Is the 8th a good hand off day for you? If we can work out the details for the 8th I will add you to our list, but I need to clarify with the person who wanted to start on the 8th, I am not sure if she comes into town the 8th or the 7th yet. I think it will work but want to keep my Mickeys in a row

Please send me a PM.

Haley.

Hello
i will be there Nov.21 and checking out on Nov.24.We will be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter for our stay!Would be willing to try this thing out and i do have paypal to pay someone with!

HaleyB, a suggestion regarding cleaning, in case you don't find a better option, and if you do, let me know..

I am thinking of taking a small plastic bag with Oxiclean in it for cleaning and then handing the extra to the next person with cleaning directions . It doesn't take much Oxiclean to clean anything . The grimest parts of the PM are going to be his hands and his feet. His hands especially, since they are white and they have controls in each hand for the games that he plays. The cleaner must be careful not to wet his hand through. I found a little Oxi mixed well with the proper ammount of water on a wash cloth to work really well.

I also tried just plain rubbing alcohol, thinking it would clean and sterilize, but found that the black stitching on PM hands was beginning to run.

I also thought about making covers for PM's hand but fiqured they would just get lost in handling. (and I was worried about choking possibilities)

If you have any other ideas, please bounce them my way.

I've been following this thread because I'd love to use the Pal Mickey when we're in WDW in 2005, if he lasts that long!

In the meantime, about cleaning him: Build-a-Bear sells a stuffed animal cleaner made by Gund called Bubble Gund that's designed for cleaning plushies without putting them in the washer. It's a spray-on, blot, rub/lather, let dry process. I think it should work for cleaning Pal Mickey, with a quick spray with lysol to kill the germies.

Can someone remind me what I should do?

Should I PM the two people I have at the beginning of my trip and the end of trip to arrange for Pal M? Do I need to send someone some money for my rental of Pal M?

Again, I do not need him the whole five days is someone else wants him during my time frame (May 26-31) but I only would want to arrange for one pick up and drop off, i.e. I don't want to have him one day, give him away, get him back a couple days later and then take him to someone else. If it was just my son and I, I would not care but with my DH's family involved, I don't want to deal with them being cranky because I need to run off somewhere. :)

AdventurerKat,

As far as I understand it, Miss Swish has generously "donated" her Pal Mickey for our swap, to be donated to GKTW at the end of the run (after me, I just need to figure the where/how to donate). So no need to paypal anyone money, I think it was suggested that if you would like, donate the money you would have spent to GKTW.

And yes, I think we are supposed to coordinate with the person before and after each of us. I'm right after you, I don't get in to Orlando until the 31st, we are driving in from Cocoa Beach that afternoon, planning to get into the Contemporary by 3 at the latest. Is that too late for you, what time are you leaving? If that's too late, do you think Pal Mickey would be okay at the Contemporary Bell desk for a few hours? I could give you my full name and ressie# to attach, if necessary. PM me and hopefully we can work it out!

Thanks!
Josette

Hi Josette (JavaJ)

I just wanted to let you know that I haven't heard back from GKTW yet about your drop off. I wrote them again today, so hopefully I'll hear back soon! I am trying to find a way for you to leave him in the parks if at all possible, seems like GKTW should have some contact person there.

Mary
