Would any of you ever attempt this?

Next year our family would like to do the DCL to Costa Maya (7d) in Sept. We wanted to combine it with a week at WDW, but we are afraid to take our kids out of school for 2 weeks. Now we are considering the possibility of doing the cruise in Sept, then returning in early Dec to do WDW. Would you guys return to WDW after doing a cruise only 2 & a half months before?

I would return back to WDW no question about it. If you decide to take your kids our of school for 2 weeks, you may want to check with your school and what the attendance policy is. I know where my kids go they are only allowed 10 days per school year and that's with notes from the doctor if due to sickness. If not sick have to meet with the superintendent. Hope it all works out for you..

:wave2: US! We did the 7 night Western cruise this past January and then returned for 5 days to WDW in April (so about 3 1/2 months difference).

It's really two different vacations depending on your style - the cruise is more laid back (at least for us) while WDW is go go go....

Have fun! :woohoo:

Yep! Check with the school. We are allowed 5 days for family vacation and 10 unexcused absences a year. We are talking the kids for 7 days in Dec.

I would go again!

Will you be taking your kids out of school again in early December? Check with the school district about their policies. That would be 10 unexcused absences in 1 semester.

You might want to piggy back a few days onto another school break. Check the school's calendar to see when they have teacher inservice days and parent-teacher conferences. Much less learning is missed if you take off days right before or after a school break.

We cruised in May and came back to Disney in December. We had the same school issues and with middle school and high school, it's much harder to get past the school absence policy. We were able to plan our vacations around school holidays so they ultimately missed very little time.

That being said, when our kids were younger (elementary level), we had a timeshare on Ormond Beach and we always spent a week there in September followed by a week at Disney. Because school was just starting, the kids really didn't miss very much and it was easier for them to get caught up when they came home. Sounds like you'll need to find out what your schools policy is first though and maybe take a look at the school calendar.

Most definitely!! We went in Feb and due to our weather, our ds only missed 4 days of school instead of 7:woohoo: I could do a cruise and or wdw that close for sure. I was just about to buy dvc for 1 weeks worth and my dh says...no, you better buy enough points for 2 weeks!!! WHOO HOO!!! He's catching on ;)

If we could afford it and could take the time away, we certainly would vacation every 2 1/2 months. WDW and DCL are different experiences. You won't feel like you just "did that".:wizard: :sail:
