Worth it?

So one of these weekends my boyfriend is going to wake me up at 2am, tell me to pack some clothes and we are going to drive straight to Disneyland. The drive is about 5 1/2 to 6 hours, so we'll make it in time. I can't wait for whenever it is... But anyways, I brought up this idea to him this weekend that he is kind of liking. We originally were going to do Saturday only, but we can get 2 day parkhopper tickets w/ parking included from AAA. So, I was thinking on Sunday we could go to the park from opening to about 5-6 pm and drive home, so he can be in bed on time to wake up for work the next day. For $66 extra, is this half day worth it? Has anyone else done something like this? I can't stop thinking about it, I want to go NOW.

I definitely think that it is worth it. But I love being at Disneyland and if I get a few more hours I would be thrilled. If the money isn't an issue then I would do it. Even if it isn't a long day on sunday you will have more time in the parks to finish up things that didn't get done the day before. Enjoy your trip! :)

oh heck yes!!

we always do a 1/2 day on the last day too.
we are only 5-6 hours away from DL and we do this everytime.

If you can convince him to do it, then DO IT!!!

do a lunch or something on the last day your there plus grab some candy for the drive home. LOL

:thumbsup2 I don't think you need to convince me! Haha, I am going to show this to him to show him that it will be worth it. Being $33 each extra, it's like buying another half day. What we usually do when we take these trips is buy a $69 ticket. But, his favorite rides are Soarin' and Screamin', so a park hopper IS worth it. So, I think he is pretty much convinced, he just isn't sure about time. Plus, he IS the one who has to wake up at 6am the next day for work, so I understand. But hey, one tired day will be worth it right! =) And sorry I posted this in the wrong board! :rolleyes1

We did this exact thing with the kids at Christmas...if it's worth it in those crazy crowds, it's totally worth it for a fun summer weekend. I am trying to convince DH to do this in October so we can see the Halloween stuff. We'll be there in September for a long trip, but its during the Halloween overlay closures.

The thing to remember is he will be tired while driving...so as his passenger you have to keep him awake so you both arrive home safely. But yes, we do this all the time. We will get a room last minute (usually HoJo at $59 a nite) and get up early Sat am, I drive us down, we get to the parks by noon at the latest and stay until midnight, get up on Sunday (we do sleep a little later on Sunday, until 9 or so) and then go to the parks until sometime from 2-4 (yesterday we left at 5 and we got home at 11), I generally doze for a small time in the first part of the drive and then talk to him to keep him awake for the rest of the drive. We stop once or twice and it's a 6 hr drive for us.

We always do that half day on the last day too. We generally leave around 3. It's about 6 hours for us as well but you never know what the traffic will be like once you get in towards Phoenix so I like having a little padding.

My Fiance did this for me on my birthday (picked me up at about 1-2am, drove 6 hours, got to the park about 9am (with stops for coffee and gas), and we stayed until about 7pm.

For her birthday, this past weekend, we left about 7:30pm on Friday, got there late, slept, had 1.5 days in the park (left about 5pm on Sunday). I am probably equally tired as the first trip, but we got to do a lot more. Go for 1.5 days if you can!

The only caution I would give is to make sure that both you and your bf get enough sleep in the days leading up to the trip. I've left Disneyland at 5:00pm and made the 5 1/2 hour drive home, and I've left at 8:30am to make the same drive after being in the parks until closing the night before. I prefer to avoid both options, but they can be done if necessary.

You can do it, but you need to make sure you get enough rest to safely do it.

oh yeah, I pretty much plan on sleeping well before every weekend, just in case he picks that time to go. I know since he is planning it he will get enough sleep as well! I can't wait. I think it might be this weekend! I am probably getting my hopes up like I have the last two weekends but oh well!

I would do the the half day. I try to spend as much time as I can for our trips. I always do a half day on the first day of our trips. I can't imagine us not!
