On my next trip, I'm planning to depart WDW on September 30, 2017. (Funny... just saying that already makes me kind of sad.) But I just realized that October 1 will be Epcot's 35th anniversary.

I couldn't find any information about what Epcot will do to celebrate, if anything. Would it be worth extending my trip by a day to avoid missing out? It looks like most of the Epcot-area resorts are fully booked that day but I'm not sure if it's because people know something.

(I read there's some kind of sold out backstage event for D23 members, but that doesn't apply to me.)

I was there for the 25th anniversary, they had a rededication ceremony,Marty Sklar did a presentation and there were special fireworks. One thing I remember was like 3 minutes before the fireworks it just started pouring hard,it stopped fairly quick but the fireworks were delayed like 20-25 minutes.I'll very likely will be at Epcot and MK Oct.1st since its both parks anniversaries as well as my birthday.

I'll definitely be there. RetroWDW will be having an event the night before in the Living Seas VIP Room.

I can't believe I didn't know that both parks opened on the same day. I assume that Epcot will be the park with the bigger celebration at night, since it's the 35th year?

And what a good place to celebrate your birthday, by the way!

I was at the 25th ceremony referenced by the PP. It was a cute ceremony but nothing overly momentous. And there was a small supply of limited edition merch at Mousegear (some special Tees and a hastily made Figment plush - hastily in that there are multiple spelling mistakes on it, but I still love mine!).

Unless the 35th is differently planned, or you have some other planned tie in, would not change my trip just for that.

Any day would be a good day for Epcot, I don't think I'd go out of my way to be there Oct. 1.

Same day but different year,1971 MK,1982 Epcot.

We were at EPCOT for the 30th anniversary. The fireworks were unbelievable. They also had anniversary merchandise for sale.
