Worth doing timeshare for good rate??

We were guaranteed the 90 min tour (I checked this a couple of times since we had our then 3yo and 6yo) and we new they would want to get to the parks. Well we didn't get out until after 10:30 and as others posted they become extremelly rude when you are not interested. By the end of our "tour" I was encouraging the little ones to be a bit grouchy so that it would get on the sales persons nerves as much as it was getting on mine. While I know "nothing is free" when you tell someone that 90 min is 90 min then that is your committment and mine so lets stick to it. To me the 90 min is the pitch then once you are there you are stuck for a while. I have done a few of these prior to my WG experience and after this I will NEVER do another time share again. My time is more valuable than anything they have to offer me!

Just curious, is it possible to hold them to the 90 minutes? say can't you leave?

Yes if you don't eat or drink what they are offering and remind them about the time and you are holding them to their 90 minutes. It is key not to drink or eat because your time does not begin until after you are completely finished!!!!!!!:wave2:
 
To those of you who used skywatch...how much time in advance did you purchase? The ones that will work for us are going for quite a bit of money, in the $100+ a night range. I'm think we may end up having to do the timeshare to save a bit. I wonder if I should wait until closer to the date we are leaving to see if more are released. I have several on my watch list and will see how they go, but I don't want to miss the opportunity to get a room at all. TIA for info!

I would nver do Westgate Lakes just from the info gathered from this board. I am doing both Wyndham Palms Golf and Marriott Grade Vista this time and it is allowing me to stay for a total of 15 days in a 2 bd rm for a grand total of 1100. I have not been that good at finding what I want on Sky Auction but I woudl try that if I had the chance. I also have heard that the Vistana Village tour is not high pressure. We did Liki Tiki last year and when they asked how we liked the room we told them the truth, we hated it. Tour did not take that long after that.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Wyndham Palms Country Club's owner is the ex-wife of Siegel (owner of Westgate Properties). She took many staff with her after the Divorce. And she continues to hire many people after they leave Westgate. Since lots of the staff there were once staff members at Westgate their tactics are the same at both resorts (we've toured at both). So don't be surprised to find the same timeshare "mess" at Wyndham. According to an article I remember reading a few years back, she took all that she learned at Westgate and tried to make it better at Wyndham. Which is why the Wyndham and Westgate Lakes rooms are identical floorplans. IMHO, Wyndham is much nicer and newer of course. It has a touch of class sort of speak, that Westgate Lakes does not have. But Wyndham has things so spread out you have to drive to get to most pools and activities. That has its advantages too, but it can be frustrating. If I was to buy it would be Wyndham.

Marriott will be not problem. They are the best people to tour with, they know how to take no for an answer.
