Worth adding extra week?

Hi, we have booked 7 nights staying at CS with free QS and the $100 gift card on 26th April, we have stayed for 7 nights in the past but I'm now wondering if we should have booked for 14 nights. I have rang virgin and to amend the date to the week after it will be £247, I then rang Disney and to keep the free dining for the whole 2 weeks we would have to stay at POR and would be an additional cost of £990, if however I was to book an additional 7 nights hotel at a value resort without the dining for this extra week would be an additional approx cost of £600. Does anyone think any of this is worth doing, we have the ultimate 14 day tix already! :confused3

Hi, whats the Virgin extra for?
Is that for the difference in flight prices?

It would be nice to stay an extra week, more Disney time :goodvibes
How many of you are going?
the difference in the hotels with the dining is £330, would you spend that on food in that time?

do you drive? perhaps stay off site to save extra too.
I would say, if you can afford it-go for it!
Im having fun, telling people to spend money today :rotfl:

For an extra £1,237, the 7 days at POR including dinning and the theme park tickets you already have is a good price, how much would it cost you to go again later in the year for 7-nights at either CS or POR with food and tickets and getting to the airport and all the other small extra's?

If you have the money (and not on credit) and the time then I would say go for it and I'm sure you'll have a much better experience, especially as it could be 2-days of travelling out of 14-days instead of 2-days out of 7.....

Hi Nicky, Lol, you do only live once hey! It's just me and DH this time, prices are additional as everything is already paid for, we haven't hired a car yet, was just gonna use the buses this time to keep costs down but was thinking of changing our mind if we just go for 1 week, we could stay at a value for the 2nd week and pay for food oop, but we are also just getting straight (change in DH job, nearly had to cancel hol) so don't know if it's really silly to even think about it, just seems a shame to waste a weeks worth of tix (got the angel and devil in my head just like when I'm on my diet lol) :rotfl2:

Hi, you are quite right when you work it out, does make sense to add the extra week, I do have a credit card but it is interest free until December and I have never paid interest on anything (except my mortgage) in my life, would just have to hope there are no crop ups! :scratchin

Have been head wrecking and I work my finances out weekly and there are a few 'free' weeks with 5 week months so that can mostly cover the additional cost (think you can tell I'm trying my best to talk myself into it now) ;)

I would seriously think about not having a hired car at all and use the free transportation and Magical Express, that will keep the cost down if staying for the full 2-weeks on site.

But if there's a day or two when you need to hire a car then go online the day before and book a car through a UK web site like Holiday Auto's and for less than £50 you could hire a small car for two days from the Disney Car centre on site.....

Not sure if POR have a facility where you can print the car hire voucher, but we've used a computer and printer in a back room behind the front desk at AKL and there was no charge.

I'm sure it will make more sense once you're there so keep talking yourself into it and of course your other half, you could always use the excuse that it's an early Christmas present for the both of you.......We've had to use that one a few times ourselves and come Christmas there's luckily been enough for a few more presents...

I would say go for it DH and I went twice for just a week and even though we had a lovely time we found that once you have adjusted to time difference and settled in you feel like you need to start preparing to come home :(. 2 weeks would be a lot more relaxing as well being able to take time off from the parks and relax around the resort x

That's great advice thank you, we would only want a car to go shopping at Florida mall and Costco etc and Wayne kindly advised me that you can pick up and drop off at a Disney hotel too (trying my bestest to talk DH round lol) :rotfl:

Thank you, that is true about the time difference and would be nice not to 'rush' the holiday! :thumbsup2

Personally i think its a long way to go for just 7 days. We originally booked for 10 nights then a few days later changed to 14 and were so glad we did. If you can afford it then go for it.

Thank you, think DH is outnumbered lol! :rotfl:

Just one quickie, the esta will run out during the second week, would I have to renew it or is it just the departure date that matters?

yay sounds like yove talked yourself into it. :cheer2:
I would just use Disney transport too and not hire a car-so much easier.

For your Esta- as long as its valid for your entry, then you wont need to renew it. It would only need to be valid for the trip if you left the country and then re-entered eg for a cruise. :)

That's even better news, thank you! :thumbsup2 just going to double check with work we can both have the extra week and hopefully sort it out, will keep you posted. We had a nosey at POR last time we were there and there were some gorgeous white buildings, hope these are what the lady at Disney quoted for as prices seem to match near enough, will ring back when they open!

If it were me I would look at adding a 2nd week without the dining plan and pay as you go

Each time we have gone for 2 weeks and come mid week of the 2nd week we really have had enough of the volume of food and come home with lots of counter service and snack credits left - you may find after your first week you will not spend as much on food in your 2nd week :confused3

I agree, if you can find the money, then its definitely the right thing to do.

If it was me I would choose POR over the Value - but I'm never very good at settling for the cheaper option! I'd love to try POR :)

Hi, disney are honouring the dining plan for the second week so it is free, if we changed to a value hotel for the second week then it would be cheaper but no dining plan, we were wanting to stay at a moderate this time so it would be more relaxing! :goodvibes

I've rang virgin and amended the date to the week after, spoke to a lady at Disney and she said the price for POR is in one of the garden rooms, she said I could request the magnolia terrace which would prob be on the east side (I really liked the look of these if its the white buildings I'm thinking of) but not sure how far away it would be from the main buildings if anybody could advise, I will be ringing to book tomorrow! :)

Magnolia Terrace is a mansion so yes, one of the white buildings. It is the third mansion building up from the far South of the complex and sits in front of the East bus stop. It is directly opposite the main swimming pool but the river separates the path in between. There is a bridge across the river to the pool area which is a five minute walk I'd say to the main building. There is a quiet pool to the north side of the building. There is also a laundry to the north side of the building. POR is lovely. We are also staying there this August and I'm not looking forward to it any less than I was the Beach Club last summer. Enjoy :) :) :)
