Alright - Ive been looking for one of these for at least, a year... I figured, you know, Im just gonna ask on here, maybe someone has one.

A looong time ago - like early 90's they used to sell these hair clips. They were kind tear-drop shaped, with a "hook" at the top. Think a banana clip - yet, tear drop shaped.

Not those hair bands, that have zig zags all around - more like (I said) a Tear Dropped shaped, banana clip. A heavier, sturdier type plastic... yet moveable because...

You'd have to hang upside down and kinda scrape this thing, starting at your neck hair line - up - then flip up and clip it in.

Why do I ask - I know the thing would be super-hot - very sassy right now. I wish I hadnt thrown mine away (like 10 years ago!!)

So, if anyone has one stuffed under their sink - Ill send you my right pinky toe for it.... :Pinkbounc

That's what I call a banana clip

ETA - I just googled "banana clip" and there are several places to buy them

ETA again, CathrynRose, just where have you been looking for these for over a year, in your cabinets? ;) I just went to Ebay and they have a million of them.

I'll pass on the severed toe but I think I still have one. I don't however have hair anymore due to chemo so it's just gathering dust. I'll see if I can find it if you want me to send it to you. I know it wasn't all that long ago I got it and knowing me it was probably at Walmart or some other superstore, have you checked there?

Wow, I wore them a lot in my hair back in the late 80"s. I had a black one, gold one, clear one, etc. I do think I got rid of them all, I'll have to look.

I swear - anytime I go to any store, I check.

They still have banana clips - the straight, jointed ones that you can open, and close...

But these were one continuous piece, kinda molded into a tear drop shape - that was a bit more flexible.

If you had one - OH MY GOODNESS!!!  puckerup: puckerup: puckerup: :rainbow:

Have you looked at Claire's? They seem to always have the best selection of hair implements.

It's probably just me.... but I'd think twice about wearing anything that I wore in the early 90s! I cringe at just the pictures sometimes. :scared1:

Theyre not banana clips though.... theyre kinda teardrop shaped - one piece, not jointed.

I see banana clips all over the place ... not in my cabinets, either!!! :p

I can't even imagine what you're talking about. If they're not jointed, how do they move? You're not talking about those 6 inch claw clips are you?

Thing was - i didnt wear them, and they werent very popular (which is why Im having trouble describing them)

It wasnt a banana clip - in fact it may have been 80's.

And with chunky, piecey hair being very cool right now... it would be an awesome way to toss your hair up.

But no banana clips!!

Sorry just trying to help.

No, no, no - Im sorry! I know you are - thankyou!

They so hard to describe! I did this with my g/f too and she got me all excited cuz she said * I STILL HAVE ONE!! * and brought over.... a banana clip. :guilty:

Think of this: http://www.glitz4girlz.com/Browse_Item_Details.asp/Item_ID/32

...but a more solid type plastic, teeth on only one side, and tear drop shaped, and you'd clip at the top. So it was moveable, bendable plastic (kinda like this) but more solid (cuz I tried buying these things, and cutting them and it didnt work - wouldnt stay put)

I appreciate alllll the help, you all are giving me. I seriously look everytime and every store there is a "hair accesories" section.

OH, now I know what you're talking about, I can't believe you can't find them, I had a couple of them myself, let me put my thinking cap on
