My husband and I had a long talk early this morning, and he has decided that rather than try to work on our marriage, he is going to leave. This was all going to happen a month ago, but I started counseling, and was hoping he would join me. After a month and he still refuses to go, I told him I can't fix it on my own. He is leaving. I have been expecting it, and it is kind or a relief that I now know what direction to move in. I still have a sliver of hope that he comes to his senses, but I am not hanging on to it. That is what made today the worst day ever.

So what made today the best day ever? You need to know how much I love Rick Springfield. I was infatuated with him in high school, and I never lost it. have always had a "crush" on him. The last time I saw him in concert was 11 years ago. He is playing in Rhode Island next Friday night. I debated getting tickets, but I would have to take the night off from work, and buy the tickets, I can't really afford it, so I talked myself out of it. This week, I learned that the radio station I listen to was going to be giving away tickets to see him on Friday night. (tonight) I didn't know how they were going to do it, did I have to listen for a Rick Springfield song? I called the station and the DJ answered. I asked him how he was given away the tickets, he said to listen for him to ask for the 20th caller, and be the 20th caller. I told him I had another question, that was, I had won tickets back in July from the same radio station, had enough time gone by that I would be able to win again? He said sure, it was plenty of time. Then, here is where it gets amazing!!!

He asked me how old I was, I said 41. He asked me if I was a mom, and I said yes. He asked me if I worked, I said I was working as we spoke. He was like "You are working right now? You're a mom out there working, trying to make a better life for your kids. You know what? I am not even going to ask you to be the 20th caller. I am just going to give you a pair of tickets to see Rick Springfield. I'm hooking you up."

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! He was GIVING ME TWO TICKETS, and I didn't have to fight the busy signal. I was so excited, I told him Rick was supposed to marry me, had he ever met me, he would have. (LOL) Then, I don't even know what I was babbling, but then guess what he says????

He says "you know what else? you're going to meet him. You're going backstage to meet him."

HOLY COW! HOLY COW! HOLY COW! I thought I must have died and gone to heaven. How could this be happening??????? After 28 years people, I am going to meet RICK SPRINGFIELD!!!!!

I still can't believe it. I called all of my friends and my sisters, and they can't believe it.

WOOHOO!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Yay! Glad to know one unfortunate situation led into something positive for you!

I hope you have a wonderful time at your concert and meeting someone who seems to have been a part of your favorite memories! Meeting him will probably be like a memory x 300,000,000! I know this is how I'd feel if this were me and Johnny Depp ... or the Golden Girls. :rotfl:

Oh dear. for what you are going through. But a big Woo Hoo!!! for your good fortune.

I have seen Rick Springfield twice - once as a young girl and again in Vegas. He is still as dreamy as he always was. Enjoy!

I am happy :yay: and sad :guilty: for you. I do want to say that you sound alot better on the net. :thumbsup2

My philosophy of life is to always move forward. Have fun with Rick...;)

A coworker of mine is in LOVE with Rick Springfield. Lucky you to go see him.
She has been to all his concerts here in Ohio, and has met him.

Did you see he is going to be in Californication? You will see his backside, so he says.

Wow... sounds like you got a much needed pick-me-up... that is great.

As for your marriage... I am very sorry to hear that, but you WILL be ok, really. I went through a divorce when I was 29, with a 7 month old baby. I had to go back to work full time, get an apartment, find day care, all that good stuff. I used to sit on the floor in my kitchen and just cry and cry thinking I just couldn't do it. Well, I did, and I am a lot stronger for it. Lean on friends and family if you are able to, the people I least expected to be there for me really were, and it helped immensely. Take care of yourself, too.... it will make you better able to care for your kids.

Enjoy the show!
