:worried:We are all worried because this trip that we've been planning for 2 yrs is in 27days and the other day, one of our family member's was told he may be in trouble legally. He didn't do what they are accusing him of, and it is silly what they are accusing him of (which I can't say right now because this is a public forum) but he is my sister's husband and if this gets dragged out for the next month or 2, my sister (who is the coordinator, the one who does all of the footwork and booking, she wrote the itinerary, she planned this whole trip and she is helping 2 of us pay because we can't afford this trip, but she doesn't want to leave without us. Well, she might get stuck having to stay home if this thing goes any further, like to court or something. Her husband hasn't had a vacation in 7 yrs and he may also not get to go.

I told her we'd just stay home too, but she said no way, that it is too late to cancel and she will lose too much $$ if we don't go...it will be like she just took $8,000 and flushed it down the toilet. So now she is so scared and she wishes the rip was further away...it sucks not knowing what is going to happen, and if she doesn't get to go, she will be devastated....and we won't be able to enjoy ourselves either.

Greetings, first i would like to say i'm sorry for all your worries concerning your vacation. Has your brother-in-law visited a lawyer yet? I am not sure by your comments on whether he is allowed to leave the state or not. His first priority should be hiring a lawyer so they can answer any questions and concerns about his situation. If it's just a matter of a court appearance, they are changed all the time for vacations. If it's incarceration that's a different story.

Oh god, I didn't even think about whether he'll be able to leave the state or not...that'll suck even more if he is not allowed to leave, but he did get a lawyer.

Your sister could potentially postpone the trip... she may even get any change fees from Disney waived due to the nature of the postponement. You could look at the calendar and pick a date in the future to reschedule it to and then firm it up later. Most Disney packages are changeable up to 45 days prior to the trip making a future date more flexible.
At the very least, you may want to look into vacation insurance if you don't already have it.

Best of luck.

Yeah, I second the idea of postponing, but DON'T WAIT in the hopes that everything will just be OK in two months. IMO, it's better to lessen the risk of your sister and BIL not being able to go at all by putting the trip off till a later date. The stress level's going to be high enough for all of you while you're in this awful situation. Having to worry about whether or not you're going to get to go on vacation together is a piece of the puzzle you can exert some control over.

Best of luck!

The problem is, even if you can change plans up to 45 days b4 the trip, we have passed that date, it is only 27 days away, and we go right from Dis World to the Cruise. I will see if it is too late to get the insurance, we may have to see if there is a way to postpone it, but I have a feeling it is too late for that since we are so close to the trip.

All you will lose at this point if you totally cancel is the $200.00 deposit fee per room. You can call and reschedule the trip for a later date for a minimal fee of $50.00.

Trip insurance won't cover an event that is already in progress so that would not work. I'm not sure even if you had it if it would cover this sort of situation. Your best to call and talk to them and see what will be involved in rescheduling or just postponing for now.

if he is truly being falsely accused the party accusing him would be liable for any monitary loss due to missing the vaction due to false accuisations i beileve.
