Hi,

One of my worries when taking my boys out and about is them getting lost.....I currently write my number on their arm when we go out and about but I have just ordered wristbands that contain my contact details.

These are going to be really handy - not just for days out here but also when we are in WDW later this year.

I find the trouble with using biro is that it smudges easily - especially if using suntan lotion regularly

There are some good products out there - so if any of you are like me it might be worth looking at!

I've been reading about this.

Lots of tips on allears, inc buying some inexpensive dog tags and threading them
Into the kids shoes, down in the first few laces.

Also quite reassuring was the fact I heard about the amount of plain clothes security staff in the parks. Apparently you wouldn't believe the qty of them but wouldn't give any further info on the subject.

i might look into some wrist bands or something.

It's funny because my friends consider me an over-protective Mother but I can honestly say that I have never, ever worried about my son getting lost. When he was younger, one of us always had hold of his hand (or he was in a buggy) and, as he got older, we have set a meeting place or told him to find a CM if he loses sight of us. He has only actually got lost once and that was in Wal-mart. He had wandered off while we were looking at something. My husband went straight to the computer games while I went to guest services - guess where he was...yep, the computer games ::yes:: Just as they'd announced his name on the tannoy, my husband found him and he was just walking to the front of the store, after hearing his name.

Try looking at lostkidz app on Facebook they have some wrist bands which you can buy. Has a space to write on contact details.

I read a great tip about lost children in WDW - tell them that if you are separated, they must stand on the nearest bench. It's easier to spot them in the crowds, or for them to spot you.:thumbsup2

Sharpie. Your mobile number. Write it on the inside sole of their shoe.

Then in the parks make sure they know the difference between Cast Members and guests. For kids over 4 this is quite easy. Walk them up to a cast member and point out their name badge. Get them to spot cast members until you know they've got the message.

When mine were younger I also used to make them walk in front of me in the parks so I could see them. Kids will wander off. It's best to have them in front of you where you can see them doing it!

We used wristbands last year. All four of our kids had them - they were rubber with a serial number, if you called the phone line and gave them thr serial number you then got our mobile number to get in contact.

With hindsight, it would probably have been easier just to buy cheap rubber wrist bands and write our numbers on in permanent marker :)

We have used Safety Tats (you can google them) and they are really great. I generally alternate arms because they only last one or two days if the kids are in the water. They don't have identifying information on them just your cell phone number(s). They are like temporary tatoos put on with water. They also have some for medical concerns or allergies that I bet come in handy if your child has some of those things going on.

We always tell our kids, find a CM, or look for a Mom that has a bunch of kids and tell her you lost your parents.

Best of luck!

Another vote for the safety tats- our 3 year old used to complain about bands when she was little. Another, cheaper option to the pre-ordered tattoos is to print your own at home. I got tattoo paper from amazon and fitted loads on a sheet personalised with fave characters.

We have been taking our daughter since she was a baby, I have always told her to go to a CM in the park or nearest shop as they will look after her. She knew we would then be able to find her.

Luckily it has never happened, although MIL got lost at MK coming out of the loos :)
