I called Disney reservations this morning and all three of the Disney Hotels were booked for the week we are going (Mar 27th-Apr 1st). The cm on the phone recommended trying Orbitz or Expedia. I was able to book a reservation thru Orbitz at the GCH for the week but am a little worried. I have never used them before. Has anyone used them and what was your experience? Was your reservation okay when you arrived? Thanks!

Orbitz is great. I always confirm my reservation about a week in advance with the hotel, but I do that no matter what, regardless of who I booked through. Orbitz "buys up" a certain number of reservations at a hotel, so what happens is the hotel may be sold out, but Orbitz is still selling the rooms that they bought in advance.

sonnyjane is right--it will be fine. We booked thru expedia for the same reason last summer (it was too soon to travel time, and no rooms left at Disneyland Hotel)--so we booked using expedia and got a great deal. The only thing that was different was that usually 3 days before our trip I call the DLH and make sure my request is in for the Dreams Tower. When I did for this trip, they said since I booked through an outside vendor, they couldn't make that note on my reservation. I had written it in the comments of the expedia online reservation, so I hoped that would be enough. When we got there I was placed in the Wonder Tower instead.

We've only used orbitz for car rentals but have never had a problem. Enjoy your vacation.:goodvibes

Orbitz is fabulous! I've used them to book MANY vacations and have never had issues. Their customer service over the phone is pretty good too!

We've used Orbitz in the past without any issues. I just used them this morning to book 2 nights at the Grand Californian President's Weekend because their prices were so much cheaper then Disneys. We called the hotel directly and were quoted an annual passholder rate of $400/nt - total with tax $936!- as the cheapest rate for a standard room! I went online at Disneyland.com and was able to pull up an AP rate of $360/nt (total $843.57!) - went to Orbitz and got the first night for $222.89, the second for $279.40 - total of $589.99, but also had an online promo code (DEALPRO10) for 10% off so we save another $50 - our total for 2 nights through Orbitz was $539.76!! That's a huge savings!

I booked a last minute trip through Expedia that was a mess.

I booked it 1 day before arrival. When I arrived at the hotel they could not find my reservation even with my reservation number. The problem was that all bookings at this hotel are done by a central reservation office in another state. So Expedia had sent the reservations there. The hotel says it often takes a 2 days for the central office to process the reservations. Expedia's customer service was of zero help at all in handling this. They told me to book and pay for another room at the hotel desk then file for a refund with Expedia. The central office said I need to have the hotel manager or Expedia call them as they only deal with them and not directly with customers. The hotel manager was not available. Took me 2 hours and multiple phone calls to finally get it worked out. The hotel nor Expedia would help in any way.

I fault the hotels reservation system for most of the mess and the fact no manager was available but Expedia should have been the one to fix it fast and not me having to call myself to the hotels central reservation office and have to convince them I had a reservation. I've never booked with Expedia or stayed at that hotel again.
