I have been planning a trip to DL for my family from Canada for 2 years. It was hard to find a time all 7 of us could get away at once, and we have some of our party who dislikes being at Disney during busy times, so always visit on off times. Dec 7-13 looked pretty good when I booked. Now looking at hotels, etc in the area are all booked up for a couple conventions that week, and this is scaring me!!
Those that are familiar, do conventions make much difference on the Disney day being busier, and if so how much busier? I expect the hotels, etc to be a lot busier, but what about the park? Thanks in advance for your experience!!

Oh and yes, I already have hotel reservations, that isn't the worry!! Just worried about the park being overly busy!!

We were in the parks round that time last year ...crowds were fine, busy but somewhat less than high summer so completely manageable, especially in the first half of the day.

The question is more about what impact 2 large conventions have on DLR, because I have found out about this after the fact.

December 7th is the second night of the Candlelight Processional. If you don't want crowds, hop to DCA mid-afternoon and leave before WoC that night.

I see one at the convention center during your dates.

Remember that conventioneers, for the most part, are going to the convention. Some bring their families, but this is still early for getting kids out of school, so it's less likely that people would be making it a full vacation. I personally don't worry about conventions all that much.

Candlelight Processional crowds scare me FAR more than a convention.

Yep - conventions aren't really the driver of busy days there. Just look at the regular seasonal prediction and as OPs have said avoid things that draw in visitors and locals like the processional. :goodvibes

Thanks all, I feel so much better now!! I will be avoiding the 7th though, as we just fly in that day anyway!!
