Worried about burnout: 2 weeks at DL

I think Orlando is different in that there are 4 theme parks plus 2 water parks. Its so big that you can spend 10-14 days in the parks and not get bored. 10 days is like spending 2 days at each theme park with 2 days of just relaxing.

Oh I definitely know that. We'd spend a month at WDW if we could! Er, I would spend a month there. :) Hubby and son would have many more resort days than I would; when I think of having a resort day I hyperventilate with boredom!!!!! (and it's why I've never had a resort/swimming day or even half day while at DLR...when I'm there I'm THERE, not hanging out at a pool or going elsewhere)

I am the same way!! I could go to DL for 14 days NO PROBLEM! Well...I may run out of money for food but I would still be happy to be there! Some of us love disney and then there is a whole other bunch who border on obsessed :lmao: Anyhow...Do take breaks though, naps are must...even for the adults! Enjoy your trip!!!

hi there, we have been to DL twice in the last two years...both trips have been 10 nights....the last trip this was what we did

day 1-arrived early morning and spent the day at downtown disney, unpacking and hanging out
day 2-knotts soak city (what a blast)
day 3-DL
day 4-DL
day 5-shopping
day 6-DL
day 7-pool and downtown disney, relax
day -hung out and DL in the evening
day 8-newport beach and the boys went to a canuck/duck game
day 9-DL
day 10- :( fly home day

We are going back :cool1: in may for at least 10 nights...i would like to make it at least 1 or 2 more, but have 3 teenagers and they are already missing 5 days of school and dont think they should miss anymore:eek: ( i have 1 that will be gradding 1 month later...i think 2 weeks vacation at disneyland is great, you may not want to disney all of that, you could get 8 day passes and then do lots of other fun and relaxing stuff....we do 5 days and it is perfect, but my kids are older...you have 4 younger ones, so enjoy your days in the park, there is so much to see and do...have an amazing trip

Two weeks would be a bit much for me. I think if you pace yourself and spend some time at other So Cal destinations, you can make it work.

Wow you all have great ideas, thanks. I think I will do the treasure hunt, my kids would love that. As for Knott's I'm going to be around 24 months pregnant and won't be able to do any big rides along with the little ones just doesn't seem worth the money. We love Christmas so maybe we can find some lights to go look at and have a shopping day for the girl to get each other gifts (even though they most likely won't be able to keep it a secret). So we will take it slow and soak it up. What are some things not to be missed. Cant wait to hear all of the ideas.popcorn::

Two weeks at DLR?! That's way too much time for me. Even one week is overload. But I understand that you will have 2yo and nearly 1yo in tow so that extends your trip because of the naps and stuff. But 2 weeks still seems like a lot.

24 MONTHS pregnant?? That's a LOOOOOOONG pregnancy... 2 whole years?! Wow! lol. :rotfl: No wonder you can't ride any big rides! hehe... I think perhaps you meant 24 weeks, not months??

You'll have to ride dumbo, if you meant 24 months! hehe j/k.

I think Knots Berry Farm has kid rides that will be easy on you. Hope you have fun!

Two weeks at DLR sounds AWESOME! We were there for only one week and that didn't seem like enough time to me and my family! (and we're all adults in my family!)

Hi there. People go camping, to Hawaii, and lots of other destination vacation spots and stay for extended periods of time. We have been going to the same vacation area for over 20 years now. We stay for 4-8 weeks at a time depending. We never get tired of going to the beach everyday or relaxing in the afternoon, swimming in the pool. There is so much to do in Anaheim area that 2 weeks might not be enough. I think you will wonder where the time went. Take lots of pictures. Make popcorn and watch a fun disney movie. (My grandson just watched bed knobs and brroms sticks for the first time-- he is 4 and giggled and LOL while watching the show.) When we stay so long we also cook our meals in our condo. I do think annual pass for everyone might be a good idea. Next year plan on going two weeks earlier to make the pass more then pay for itself. Have fun and write a trip report when you get back.

It's that pregnant mind again, ya I meant weeks:lmao: My DH calls me often to make sure I haven't forgotten to pick up the kids from school. Wow can't seem to remember things, not that having 5 kids helps. Thank goodness for spell check these day, don't know what I would do without it.

Burnout will probably happen with 2 weeks straight at DLR. There are tons of other things to do in the area.

If you want to avoid big crowds at Knott's Berry Farm, avoid weekends at all costs. These days happen to be those of the Toys for Tots program, so tens of thousands will be in the park. On the other hand, if you want to get in at low cost, you can't beat a $10 toy for admission. You're in more luck if there's a firefighter or police officer in the family - two get in free on any day, and discounts for others. See the site for details.

I think I could do 2 weeks and not be bored. But I would take it slow, and with the little ones it will be slow. DH and I are going for a week in June, so we'll see how it goes, but I don't think we will be bored. We have one black out day with the AP so we will use that for sleeping in and shopping in the area, I guess. Plus when you allow for afternoon naps, 2 weeks may not be that long after all. Have fun! :)

Newport Beach has their annual Christmas Boat Parade Dec. 17-21. The website is (christmasboatparade.com). You can stake out a spot early and grab something to eat like pizza. (cheap) This is always fun to see especially if it is not cold. The way our weather has been we may have a warm Christmas. The houses along the bay also do a lot of decorating and it is fun just to walk around and see the houses. I would not do it on the weekend when it will be busiest. And it's FREE and only 30 mins. from Anaheim.
