My youngest dd got a stomach bug sunday night- Finally seems a bit better today- although was ok all day yesterday until she nursed before bed. Normally these things go through my house quickly- this time my other kids 3 and 4yrs old are fine so far- but i am so worried they will throwing up Mon (we leave tues) do you think there is anything i can do? I am nervous about starting packing- HELP!!!!!

I would just make sure everyone is washing their hands alot, use paper cups, use lysol on everything..there isn't much more you can do...i really hope no one else gets sick!!!! Have a great trip!

Take probiotics/acidophilus - it could help and defintely won't hurt. It aids digestion and is now thought to help the immune system (it is the same live active cultures found in yogurt and the reason yogurt is considered to be one of the best foods for you). There are powdered (mix in a drink) and chewable ones for children. Most probiotics have to kept in the fridge after opening, so you could bring an unopened bottle on your trip, keep it in the fridge while you are there, and throw it out when you leave. We have been taking them all fall and winter (maybe since school started), and I brought them on our trip. We have been doing much better this year. (I realize that there are a number of variables, but I give credit to probiotics being one of the reasons that we aren't so sick so often this year.)

Check your drug store or Whole Foods. They are in the vitamin section.

We're leaving next Thursday. My daughter came home from school yesterday and said that so and so threw up in class and someone else went home sick. Then in today's paper there was a story about how 15% of the kids in our district have been out sick this week. I told the kids they better get sick THIS WEEKEND and be completely over it by Wednesday! Ugh.

Good luck with your family!

Well, my DD had the stomach flu two weekends ago. Hers started on Saturday early am and then I caught it and mine started Monday very late pm. And I have heard the same time table from others who have had it in their family a 2 or 3 day in between the next one. So if your youngest had it on Sunday and its now Thursday you may all be clear!!! I hope so b/c it was really awful. We also leave next Tuesday!! Good luck to you all and hope you all stay well and have a great trip. :)

This is my biggest fear everytime we have a Disney trip booked. I always panic when I hear about so and so at school who is sick and I hate to even send my kids. Problem is we always pull the kids out for a week in the off times, so I cant pull them out before the trip too thinking they wont be exposed. I do lots of praying and we take lots of vitamins. I was worried last month, too, when we were preparing to leave. All ended up being okay and I was very thankful. We also tried to take airborne the day of our flight. DH and I took it and DD8, but we all felt queasy. This stuff tastes gross. Didnt make DS11 and DD16 take it since I knew they would feel the same. We just went without it after that. Hope your family stays well and no one else gets it. Take lots of hand sanitizer with you. I sanitized us all after coming of the rides. When you know how many people hold those same ride bars and then you touch them- gross. We used lots of hand sanitizer and washed our hands all the time.

Invest in Airbournes. If they do all get sick, it will will be quick. Most Pharmacy's have their own brand now.

My husband swears on Wonton Soup and Ginger Ale.

Since the youngest had it 5 days ago, I would think they would have come down with it by now if they were going to get it. When one child gets sick, the best thing you can do is to isolate them from the others and I agree with the frequent hand-washing and lysol. But since they were probably already exposed, I think all you can do is wait and see (and pray!) I used to worry about this as well until 2 years ago when we actually got a stomach bug DURING our vacation. We lived through it and still managed to have a great time. So now, I don't worry as much because although it would be great to have a sick-free vacation, I know that things happen and you just have to make the best of it! Good luck and have a great trip!
