Worried about bedbugs

Looking at the matress or under a bed in a hotel is something I could never do, it probably would gross me out much more than the thought of bedbugs.

I am also from mass., and the subject of bedbugs is never ending. I can certainly understand th op concern over contracting these critters. It seems that a good part of my disney planning will be to take the necessary precautions. thanks for all the good tips and advice in dealing with the subject

Think of this. Bedbugs are icky, to be sure. But...they are not big disease carriers. You are far, far, more likely to catch influenza or a virus from a railing or door handle in a park or resort that has been touched by tens of thousands of people before you in the same day, and you've probably not spent every vacation since 1986 worrying about that.

Check the bed if it makes you feel better, and then turn off your worry reflex. That's why you go to Disney in the first place.

Oh, yes. Totally agree.

And mosquitos can carry West Nile Virus. So you really want to be aware of mosquitos. But we have multiple cases in our state, and I've been bitten by mosquitos, but no WNV.

Can we put this thread to Bed... :rotfl2:

It's giving me nightmares! I prefer to live in denial. ;)

My daughter has a friend that has spent Thousands and still can't get rid of the creatures! They are very hard to get rid of, if you do bring them home. After throwing her bedding away, hired a exterminator for several treatments, she has bought a steamer and steam cleaned everything. They can't take heat. It made our news, a local exterminator said he treats 5 houses a week. Last year hardly received a call. They are on the rise for sure. It is not to be ignored. I just printed out a large article to see how to really look for them in a hotel room, one thing is to not set your luggage even on the luggage rack until you check it. Use a flashlight. They even hide behind baseboards, in the carpet, on the bed rails.

So, it is good to start with the bed, but don't stop there. If you want to know more, just google them. There are hotels listed all over the World. :scared1: I really don't want to bring them home and we travel a lot. It's not going to keep me home, but I am going to do my due diligence. One lady claims on a bedbug website that she has spent $11,000.
