World Tallest Coaster Coming to Orlando

Watched the video it doesn't look like the style of a ride I would picture at disney or universal.

I would hedge a bet that this is likely to go to Busch Gardens, if that isn't too far away?

No winds over 80???, that is a 1 or 2 force storm., Hurricanes in Florida have reached force 5, 125+ and yes in inland areas. You have to remember the winds 500+ feet up and the wind at ground level are two different things.

The design and reinforcement guides would have to be amazingly strong and extend way out beyond the coaster. With time the stresses will cause fatigue.

Lets not forget the lightening. It can be a sunny day and lighten can strike something that high form miles away. The place it will likely strike is the highest thing around, offering the easiest path to the ground.

Sorry I would be very concerned about the safety of a coaster this big/high.

AKK

I agree with everything you said. :thumbsup2+1. There is little chance this will be built in Florida and most likely is a publicity push by the manufacturer. It will certainly not be seen in WDW or US.

Maybe, but even that doesn't seem like likely right now. It is a designer/manufacturer making the report and there is no direct connection to a buyer right now. I agree with previous posters that the height concerns with wind and lightning are pretty significant.

I posted this on another thread as well. I'll post it here to.

This same coaster was proposed for Las Vegas, NV last year as well. No word yet if plans are still in the works or if the project fell through. Be interesting to see which city/state gets it first.

From what I've read, there will be at least three of them. There is supposedly one to be built in the Atlanta area, and it will be the first completed.

Thank goodness we have so many engineers and architects on the DISBoards to save us from the unqualified professionals in charge of this project.

What project? :confused3 All we have is a rumor, started by the company which mfg the ride, which suggests an unnamed entity in Central Florida might be interested. I'm sure the company will either address safety issues associated with the height, or reduce the height. I clicked through on the link. This isn't the kind of attraction I'd expect to see in a theme park, including WDW, Universal, SW, BGT. You don't see those huge Ferris Wheels going in theme parks.

But I do see the occasional observation tower at theme parks. The Polercoaster can double as one of those, even with a restaurant. The idea of blending a ride, restaurant, and attraction all into one is intriguing. I can certainly see it in a theme park.

Still, like I said in another thread, given the way Disney likes to keep the backstage areas out of public view, I don't see this in a Disney park as the tower would expose those areas. It is plausible for it to be placed at Downtown Disney as part of the renovation to become Disney Springs. Not that I expect it to be put there, mind you, it's just that I can't throw Disney entirely out of the mix.

With that said, my current guess is that it wil be an entity all of its own, not tied to any of the theme parks. No particular reason why, just a feeling I have.

i see it definitely being a stand alone attraction/part of something on I Drive or kissimmees funspot.

disney wouldnt do it because of several reasons that have already been mentioned. its too high at 500 feet its sooooo much higher than anything disney already has, they dont like guests seeing backstage areas which this would allow guests to do almost anywhere it is put, its hard to put any sort of theming onto this so disney wouldnt like that, its too much of a thrill ride for disney they like tame family orientated stuff which this definitely is not, disney is leaning towards developing things around things it already owns eg possibly starwars land because they bought lucas films. i dont see disney shelling out the huge amount of money for this when they have money in other areas. Also there's been no mention or even hint at it in the concept artwork and design and ideas for the disney springs refurb for downtown disney so i dont see it going there again for the height and thrill factor being too much for disney.

seaworld i'm ruling out because its not animal related and couldnt really b turned into something animal related because of the lack of possibility to do a lot of theming on this. they could possibly theme it to something like an eagle but that would belong more at busch gardens than seaworld. also while seaworld does have its 2 amazing rollercoasters kraken and manta its more about the animals than thrill rides.

universal is out for one dead end reason. UOR has a height restriction of 300feet because its in the flight path of the airport. end of possibility.

busch gardens are about to open falcons fury. i dont see them building another height attraction within the next few years of falcons fury opening especially not something that sort of puts falcons fury to shame height and for me thrill wise. like i said the eagle/bird theming would fit well in busch gardens but i dont see them repeating that theming after falcons fury.

pros of it being a stand alone attraction somewhere are that it takes up very little space compared to a full blown rollercoaster and this small footprint fits well into the packed I Drive/kissimmee area. It will have its own admission charge since it is not part of any of the big theme parks. It can have multiple uses for the upper deck concerts, shopping, viewing area, restaurant and more which would also have their own charges, generating more money from this small space. it wouldnt need any theming other than simple things like colour and a name because its not attached to any of the themeparks. it would generate more customer for the things around it especially shops and restaurants on the I Drive area as people would maybe make a point of making a trip to ride this but instead of eating at a restaurant on the top of the tower they would choose somewhere else nearby depending on price and taste and make a day of it with other activities like shopping or mini golf or the things like wonderworks/ripleys believe it or not/dinner shows and possibly even book a hotel/motel for the night and travel home the next day or a few days after depending on their logistics.

To me it makes sense for it to b a stand alone attraction but this is just my opinion and reasoning anything could happen i wonder when it will be officially announced!

xXx

Additional information about the PoleRCoaster have been released. It is being built on International Drive near Sand Lake Rd. (behind the Burger King). The Burger King Property and the Bowling Alley have been purchased along with the old Fun and Wheels Property. They are building a shopping area called Skyplex along with the coaster to the called "The Skyscraper". The site is about 2 miles from Universal and a couple of blocks from the Giant Wheel being constructed.

More Information can be found on their website: http://mangos.com/skyplex/
