World Tallest Coaster Coming to Orlando

A "polar"coaster could go along with a Frozen theme....that would be SWEET.

Dark ride up the mountain....and then zooming down on the sled. They need to make this happen. pixiedust:

Yes... US Thrill Rides has confirmed that they have a contract for a PolerCoaster™ in FLORIDA and its location will not be revealed until the purchaser makes that announcement. Central FL would seem to be a likely place as any.

I think we can safely assume that it will not be coming to WDW!

I cannot help but wonder which Hurricane will carry it away totally!

Fortunately, if it's built in Central Florida, which I believe it will be, hurricanes are not that strong by the time they get inland that far.

Well we will see., some storm do carry their wind. 500' up is pretty high and the even on a steel coaster it's a lot of sail area and wind resistance!

Then add Orlando is the lighten capital of the world. It will be the highest thing around.

I agree. I envision many shut downs and delays during the daily storms central Florida see during the summer months.

I would think the engineer piece would factor sustain winds 80+ in the design. I'm guessing and no a hurricane could pack more but it would be a consideration in the design for where it is being built

No winds over 80???, that is a 1 or 2 force storm., Hurricanes in Florida have reached force 5, 125+ and yes in inland areas. You have to remember the winds 500+ feet up and the wind at ground level are two different things.

The design and reinforcement guides would have to be amazingly strong and extend way out beyond the coaster. With time the stresses will cause fatigue.

Lets not forget the lightening. It can be a sunny day and lighten can strike something that high form miles away. The place it will likely strike is the highest thing around, offering the easiest path to the ground.

Sorry I would be very concerned about the safety of a coaster this big/high.

JMO--I think the company making the coaster is trying to generate interest. Enough "buzz" and the company (or one of the companies) US Thrill Ride is negotiating with might "bite".

The ride has a relatively small footprint. It doesn't look that great. It doesn't look like the kind of attraction I'd expect to see at a major park. Maybe near the "Orlando Eye" or one of those parks on 192.

My first thought was Legoland but then I looked at the sketch.

did you just say lighten?

I'm thinking it wouldn't be disney. The castle, Everest, and spaceship earth are all under the Orlando height maximum for having to have a light up on top by design.

I can't imagine this in any of the Disney parks just because of its size and it eclipsing existing attractions. This screams Universal to me.
