World Showcase?

I'm all for a new country. However, I would also like to see them make the WS more interactive and fun for kids with the countries that they already have. For example, how about Gondola rides in Italy? Or love the mtn. idea in Japan. Or a Brother Bear show/ride/something in Canada? Or something in the American Pavilion that has monuments, etc.? Or Double-Decker Bus transportation from one end to the other? (would love this) There are so many things that would make it exciting (esp. for kids, I'm thinking) and not take away from the wonderful culture that is already offered.

There are really quite a few wonderful possibilities Greece and Russia would be wonderful, also Australia and perhaps something from South America. I'm sure if they would be so inclined and the sponsorship would be there, the imagineers could do something. It looks like they do have a significant amount to work with when you look at that aerial, the countries themselves are quite small compared to a couple of those spaces they have.

they should add Belgium :thumbsup2

for their choccolats... and me (as the guide)

I know this was a silly contribution, don't tease me with it now :goodvibes

I want rides in the countries that do already exist. I realize that this may not be practical but that's what I want :goodvibes

I remember years ago, seeing construction type walls up and there was some indication that they were constructing an Israeli pavilion. It never came to be though. I read somewhere that Israel pulled the project.

I think the political climate had something to do with it too. They also had a wall for Africa and, I think, Spain. They have also talked about Russia and Switzerland in the past.

Here's a great article by Lou Mongello (who I have mentioned twice today already :wave2: ) http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/articleViewer.php?aid=316

That’s right – Israel was set to take its place on the World Showcase lagoon, complete with a menorah in the courtyard, and an outdoor fine dining restaurant surrounded by cypress and olive trees. Although this pavilion obviously was never built for a variety of reasons, Israel was well represented in the 1999 Millennium Village, with more than $1.8 million dollars contributed by the foreign ministry of Israel in an effort to encourage tourism.

Here's hoping Lou can name some of those reasons
