Hi I am a brand new member of the Disney Vacation Club. I have a question about the world passport collection. Are you absolutely required to stay for seven days at one resort? I am curious because I would like to take a trip to Boston and Florida this year, but not for seven days each at one resort. And going through the concierge collection uses a lot of points for just a couple of days. Any advice would be helpful!::MickeyMo

I'll leave it to the DVC veterans to answer your World Passport questions.

But, I thought I'd say congratulations on your new membership. Welcome Home! And welcome to the DIS.

All of the exchanges to the World Passport Collection (via Interval International) are for one week. You don't actually have to stay at the exchange for a week, but the cost (in points) will be the same whether you stay one day or one week. Cost depends on unit size and the season.

Congratulations!
Welcome home!
Welcome to the DIS!

It is generally felt that exchanging DVC isn't necessarily a good value. I think using World Passport exchanges to places that you would not likely go to on your own because of the cost IS still a good use of DVC points. The only II exchange we have done is Hawaii, and I consider that to be a good trade.

You can always go for less than a week but the cost in points for an exchange will be the same. Look at a cash option, you may be surprised. Also check into renting from an owner there. Only a subset of II exchanges are a good value and that will be less still for less than a full week.

For shorter stays, the Concierge Collection is an option. The points per night tend to be high. But the properties are some of the finest deluxe resorts and hotels.
