Hi Budgeters-

Husband has 100+ action figures (still in packages) and 30+ environments back from our carefree childless days.

Now that the 9 month old is mobile, he wants to sell them. Ebay seems to be a bust, from a quick look. Not to mention shipping would be crazy. They would probably fill a small SUV.

Any ideas where to sell these? Not looking to make big $$, but it's sell them or give them to charity (and really what is the correct charity for wayward action figures)?

All thoughts are welcome.

you could always try Craigslist. My son has over 1000 McFarlane toys and it really doesn't seem to be worth the effort to sell them...he will certainly never realize what he spent on them on resale.

A pawn shop might be a good option. He'll get 30-40% of current market value. Not a lot, but enough to make it worth the effort.

We have some, too, but not as many. I just told my DH to think about what he wants to do with them (keep, sell, donate). I doubt we will get anything back, and since he doesn't have many collections, I'm find if he keeps them. There's also his matchbook collection... Not sure what to do with that either. Guess I'll never run out of a match.

And while we are on the topic, I'm never going to let myself get wrapped up in a craze like Beanie Babies ever again. Those ended up being worth nothing, and I have since given nearly all of them away (it was probably in the 30ish range, so not too bad, but still...). Wish I could tell my former self to save her money.

i too would suggest Craigslist. If you have no luck there or don't want to deal with it then I would check out local charities that have auctions to raise money. Your collection might be a good set for them. There has to be someone out there who would love them and give them a good home.

The collectibles market is still super-weak right now, at least in my area, because so many people were/are looking to sell off collected toys, comics, etc. to ease a financial crunch. I'm not sure there is a good place to sell right now, but it can't hurt to run an ad on Craigslist to see if you get any interest and check around with local comic/pop culture type shops to see if they're interested in buying outright or working out a consignment deal.

We had several of these, certainly not 100s, but over 10. Honestly, my 6yr old 'plays' with them now :)
