World of Color Superthread

I'm at 20 days and have declared myself a guinea pig if need be. I think that's referring to that we'll be there about when the show has either only shown occasionally to the public or (quite possibly) not shown at all to the public before that date! :scared1:

Though if that's the case, I don't think I will be there for the first showing on 6/11, probably not even if you are allowed to stand around the lagoon. MIGHT look into the last showing of the day, though!

Opening day is gonna be scary. Super interesting and wild to see, but kinda scary all at the same time. I am actually very shocked Disney hasnt had a better plan of attack for this new show. I understand viewing room is now smaller then planned, but Disney should have had a plan B in case view room became a problem. Now everything is so undecided as to what is going to happen. :sad2: Craziness! I am pumped to watch press footage on opening day and hear reader comments. This is definitely going to make for some good stories.

popcorn:: same here..and glad I've already gone, seen testing, gotten an idea of the layout of the viewing area...and won't be back until January when the bugs will (hopefully) be worked out. Unless I go in Sept to Destination D :rolleyes1

Do you even know when this is to happen? I thought they were no longer doing a Guinea Pig week or at least have put the thought off for now.

The first week is Guinea Pig week and I think we should all wear the same color. Kinda like Bats Day but with chaos. :cool1: I say Bring It Disneyland!

Lime green shirts? And don't forget the steel-toed platform shoes for that added boost of elevation. ;)

Or do we actually have to wear furry shirts for the full guinea pig effect?

Actually, I just got this image of us all putting on crazy blue face paint a la Braveheart and getting psyched up with battle speeches.....

Aye. Come opening weekend and you may be squished; reschedule and you will not be crowded. At least a while. And visiting again many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the vacations from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell Disney that they may take our money and our personal space...but they'll never take our World of Color!?!

(Actually, rescheduling sounds pretty smart in many ways, certainly not cowardly. But with work and my AP expiring that just isn't a possibility. :) Guinea pig out!)

I can so TOTALLY picture this in my mind!!!

Maybe I should reschedule BACK to those days just to see it......... :lmao:

Guinea pig in! No rescheduling here. I am going in and going bold! :hippie:

I do think the willingness of one to brave opening night is directly correlated to the frequency with which one is able to get to DL.

We haven't been in 3 years and are unlikely to get back again for several more. I'm not willing to expose myself to crazy insane crowds all day to miss core attractions to see one 30 minute water show (no matter how good it is.......)

You guys have fun though! I can't wait to hear all about it!

It's on!!! BRING IT!!! I can take it....the crowds, the insanity, the WOC mosh pit you name it I will be there:rotfl2::yay:

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

So will you all actually be disappointed if it all goes off without a hitch with minimal crowds???? :rotfl2:

I am truely grateful to all of the guine pigs! I expect them to figure out all the methods, endure the crowds (even if they have to wear body armor) and report back for all of us going in July -- wave 2 of the guine pigs! :thumbsup2

I think we need a guinea pig roll call! ::yes:: I will be there, fuzzy lime green shirt and all! And if someone decides to mess with me or my kids, I will go all "Mama Bear" on them!:rolleyes1:lmao:

As one of the guinea pigs, I have to say... :scared:!

However, at least we've all been on the disboard, reading about FP, what spots are worthwhile, and what areas to give up and try for a better FP the next day, etc. Imagine if you just went without knowing all that!

DL is losing a big $$ opportunity by not being prepared with premium seating, etc. when it opens.

Though I'm going, I agree with you. Some people are just locked into their travel dates, but people who have any flexibility and can't go often, and who understand crowd patterns at DL, are wise to stay away.

This will be our third visit in a 12-month period. The reason we're going that weekend is because that will be the last weekend our APs are valid, and we thought crowds for WoC would be lowest then, what with the supposed April or May premiere :flower3: . When it came down to it, we DID consider visiting earlier, but we also wanted to see the show. Actually, what happened is that I wanted to go earlier to miss the crowds, but then my travel partner said that she kind of wanted to see WoC. That got me into wanting to see it too and it snowballed.

But in our case, it's probably too late to change our reservations and almost certainly too late for me to change my time off work, so we couldn't change our dates even if we wanted to.

Which leaves me no option but to embrace the madness!!!! :rotfl:

We can't change our vacation time either and honestly, I don't want to. We are staying in a 2 bedroom villa at the GC and while the WoC will increase some crowds, we know how to tour Disney even during the peak times. The majority of Disneyland visitors are not on Disney message boards and will show up cold knowing very little about WoC. Heck, I know people who have been and don't know about FP so I am sure they won't be versed on even the limited WoC knowledge we have here.

So true the majority are going to be reading in the local paper about the show, and decide to go the next day without thinking it through.

Of course it's already a busy time because schools far and wide will have let out for summer. They are just going to kick off summer not because WoC is premiering.

Those that are going I'm not really worried about. They should be glad to get in on the first experience of the show and then dutifully report back immediatly on this board! :woohoo:

We just do not know. Best guess from yours truly - there are apparently four "color" sections in the WOC viewing area. So four of the GRR FP machines will be taken over for WOC (one for each color) while the remaining 3-4 machines will give out GRR FPs. And the FPs will not be linked to other rides. :)

So do we know if those fastpass machines will be open when the park opens? Or later in the day? Also, you mentioned there would be four machines, one for each color? I read somewhere (probably this thread!) that yellow and red were the best sections, so if each machine has one color, wouldn't everyone just line up for those machines?

Where heading down the end of June, heres to all the Guinea pigs that will sacerfice for us all:wizard::wizard:. If I had the time i would of been one of those:rotfl2:, where planing a midweek vist so I am hopeing It wont be to bad, but we will be patient and take our time. I for one love crowds so more the marry, now my DS:scared1::rotfl2:. I am just hopeing that theres a clear area where you stnd or wait to get FP or and the way you get Into the show.

From some other rumors I have heard I think my speculation about GRR FPs being open in the morning is probably wrong. But it does sound like different FP machines will be color coded for WOC FPs.

its suppose to be randomized. but it goes random section to random section.
