World Of Color LIVE on UStream Tonight!

I had to get back out of bed to ask this question... Does anyone think Disney might consider replacing Fantasmic at DHS with World of Color? As much as I love Fantasmic, I would welcome the change!! I think WOC is much more family friendly as I haven't even taken my children to see Fantasmic yet because I think it would be too intense for them. Any thoughts?

Short-term, I'd be quite surprised, as WDW is not very interested in spending money, and it would be a significant capital investment to replace Fantasmic! But that said, they probably ARE looking for something to draw people away from Universal/Harry Potter, so if the vast majority of the public prefers it over Fantasmic!, then maybe someday. I would GUESS that World of Color has fewer long-term costs--I think Fantasmic! takes at least 80 performers (or is that performers and tech?) while WoC took a lot of initial programming but I imagine the daily cost would at least in theory be "just" a few techs and then crowd control (plus electricity/fire). So long-term, if it could get them out of paying for actors and fireworks, it might be profitable. :confused3

Personally, I haven't seen WoC in-person yet, but given the scariness/despair of a certain scene, I already think it's in some ways more intense than Fantasmic! The fire scenes reportedly get very hot too. But I suppose it depends on your kids--different things upset me than upset parents, and some parents are upset by things that don't bother their kids at all (and some kids are upset by things that their parents never thought would be bad!). :confused3 Either way, in WDW you can sit far enough back for Fantasmic! that it doesn't seem very intense to me. In DL for Fantasmic! AND WoC, the show's pretty much right on you, IMO.

I couldn't make it home in time... is there somewhere I can see a recording of the ustream?

It took me awhile to realize that Mickey's mouth was moving. Amazing how our brains automatically fill in the blanks, and don't pick up immediately on a change in stimuli! DS6 didn't believe me that Mickey's mouth was moving, even when he was watching it himself.
I let the kids stay up past badtime for the show, and they loved it! (as did I) it was AMAZING! DS kept asking "is this real? Is this really happening?" and I had fun explaining the technology of a live stream while trying to watch the show! As awesome as the different characters and movie sequences were, the color sequences were amazing, and probably my absolute favorite part. i can't wait to see it in person! I may have to rethink my desire to see it over the summer!
What?! Why? :headache:

I understand why they shut down Thunder Mountain for the Fire Works in DL, but why shut down three rides that wont be affected by the light show?

My first thought was I wanted to watch it from the Zephyr, but I read months ago that Paradise Pier would be closed for the show. The bright lights from those rides would show through the fog screen, and really ruin the whole thing.
Besides, Mailboomer is going away soon anyway, so that is moot point.

We stayed up last night to watch it. My ds loved it and is totally ready for our trip that is coming up very soon!:cool1:

I got to watch up until color of the wind started with pocohontas... it was a beautiful show and as some have said I wasnt excited until seeing this, we may just brave the crowds in Aug to see it..... I hope at some point today they will get the rest loaded onto youtube so I can see the finale...

We watched and were blown away by it!! We're rethinking - we may need to take a trip down South to see this in person (we're going to WDW in October and weren't going to do Disneyland this summer!)

i did not watch the ustream video, i wanted to wait and not spoil it for myself and just wait till i saw it in person..but i did see the disneyparks blog video on the blue carpet premiere with the celebrities, and it did show a bit of the show--yea i peaked and omg it looks awesome!!!! :yay:

OH ! and john stamos looked ..H O T!!! :)

DH and I stayed up late to watch it - we thought it looked great! It was really hard to get an idea of how it would look actually being there though - I can imagine trying to look everywhere at once to take it all in!

I think my favorite part with the characters/mist screen was the Pirates bit towards the end, but I liked the dancing fountains and color sequences more than anything. I can't wait to see this in a few weeks!

i was not into WOC but after last night I'm reconsidering. It just may turn out afterall to be one of those staple must see over and over attractions...
As far as the other rides being down it's probably for safely. I noticed in the Ustream that those sitting close were pretty wet. so I image if you were on the ride you may have gotten sprayed... lol

What does that have to do with closing PP?

hey, I'm just sharing information. It wasn't my decision!
The PP was uninformed that Paradise pier would be closing for WoC, I just wanted to make sure that they were also informed that Mailboomer's clock is ticking.

During the time of the World of Color show, why don't they just continue to run those rides, but with the lights turrned off? :confused3

Besides, Maliboomer is going away

What are they going to put in it's place?

Anyway, I wonder if we'll be able to see the World of Color from the Tower of Terror?

Just watched the youtube videos, but where's part #4? How many parts are there? Wish I would have watched it live last night.:sad1: Disney is fabulous at finding ways to get me to spend money!!!! DLR here I come again soon! :thumbsup2
