I know Disney said 2022 for their return, but has anyone heard anything more specific, even rumors? (We've never been to DL but go to WDW often.) We're looking at March 2022 but hoping to see these! Thanks!!

I’ve seen totally unsupported speculation that WoC may return in Feb/March and that Fantasmic won’t return until summer. Haven’t heard anything about MSEP. To avoid disappointment, I’d plan on these shows/parade NOT happening during your trip. If Disney announces their return prior to your visit, consider it a bonus.

I hope they add some stuff for Tale of the Lion King. It definitely was a more of a mini-show when compared to Magical Map and nowhere near the quality of Festival of the Lion King at other Disney parks.

I'm glad Tale of The Lion King is getting a proper theatre. If this is the same show that was in Paradise Pier Viewing Area in 2019, this is what I wrote in my trip report from June 2019.

The Lion King Show at World of Color Viewing area- totally the wrong location for what is most likely an excellent show. No one wants to sit / stand in the burning afternoon sun to watch a show. You had to be right down in the viewing area to even know it was a show. I heard the music as I came out of Little Mermaid but couldnt see it was a show. Im sure many people walked past Little Mermaid and just heard the music and didnt realise a show was actually going on.

Although its interesting that they are switching out Mickey and The Magical Lamp with Tale of The Lion King.

I disagree here. Tale of the Lion King is not of the caliber of a full theater show. It's a bunch of performers singing and telling the story of the Lion King without any characters or more advanced acrobatics. Festival of the Lion King at Hong Kong Disneyland and A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom are far superior. Even if they did add effects to Tale of the Lion King to make it more worthwhile, I'd much rather see Magical Map or a new show than another show that uses live actors to retell the Lion King.

Tale of the Lion King is the type of show that's for people who go to Disneyland a lot and want some variety or those who are just passing by and want to take a break from rushing from ride to ride. As a theater show, I see it being either a disappointment or just another cheap knock off of something that is done better in other parks. We already have PhilharMagic so I don't see the need for more cheap knock offs. Tale of the Lion King isn't bad but I think that Fantasyland Theater deserves something more impressive. Tale of the Lion King may be better for a smaller stage like what they have in Hollywood Land.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has heard any new rumors of specific timing. Our Christmas trip got postponed because DS & I got Covid, so we postponed to mid-June of this yeat. Hoping at least one of these is back by then. Both would *almost* make up for missing the holiday decorations. ☺

That seems possible. The “lagoon“ has been filled and the large array of fountains is underwater, so likely that part of the refurbishment is complete. The projector sheds have been removed and temp work platforms are in place to install the new projectors, this work could be completed quickly

As of late Dec from a park contact that has first hand knowledge they are trying to start F! rehearsals in Feb with a return late March/early April.

WOC was slated to come back prior to that but due to supply chain issues getting he necessary parts for the refurb it will be likely be spring break best case before WOC is back even though they are currently testing parts of it.

Did not get any intel on MSEP.

We're visiting 3/21-3/24 and I'm afraid we're going to hit a bad time--ToonTown may be closed by then, no WOC, Fantasmic....and this is our first (likely only) visit! I'm so bummed.
