Hi everyone :wave2:
I am new to this particular board as I am planning my first ever trip to Disneyland in March. I cannot wait!!!!:yay::yay::yay:
I have made numerous trips to WDW and Disneyland Paris, but never been to Disneyland.
We are DVC members and so will be staying at the Villas at the Grand Californian.
I was wondering whether people think it is worth doing the World of Color Dining Package - with reserved spot for the show, and, if so, which of the three restaurants you guys would recommend?
I would also greatly appreciate general advice - particularly about other recommended dining options.
Thank you so much!!!!

I was wondering about the WOC dining pkg, do the change the menu for the different seasons, for example christmas?

We love the WOC package for lunch at Carthay Circle. We usually ask for tickets to the second show because it's less crowded and you can spend the time in the park instead of in line waiting to go in to the first WOC. (we go during the summer. Don't know what it's like during non crowded times)

Carthay Circle does change its menu seasonally, but more in line with winter, spring, summer, fall. I haven't heard of the other two doing this.

We only watch WOC if we do the dining package. I'm barely over 5' tall, so it's just a more pleasant experience for me. The viewing areas are less crowded, and we've had better views than the fast pass option. We prefer the viewing area for Wine Country Trattoria, but like the food at Carthay better.

Now keep in mind that we tend to eat at both restaurants every visit, so the dining packages aren't a big stretch for us.

I agree that you should read the superthread linked to above. You don't get a reserved spot per se. There's no seat or anything like that. You still have to go and stand and you might get someone standing in front of you so if you're vertically challenged, go earlier than you'd think. All it guarantees you is entrance into a viewing area with a better potential (key word) view than the free passes get you. I agree that you should only do it if you were planning on eating at one of those restaurants anyway.

We were there in August and opted not to do WOC at all - seemed too big a time commitment - so I can't help there. But, we did eat at the Hungry Bear restaurant in DL and Paradise Garden Grill in DCA. We really enjoyed both of these. They are both quick service but the Paradise Garden Grill had delicious skewers that were perfect (and filling) for dinner. We also ate at Rancho del Zocalo in DL and it was literally the worst theme park restaurant food that we have ever eaten. I had read postitive reviews online so maybe we just hit an "off" day. But, we were very disappointed and it was NOT cheap. It was our first trip to Disneyland as well and we all loved it. Have fun!

I was wondering the same thing...I didn't realize they put you in different areas depending on which restaurant you choose? We are booked for a 5:30p dinner in November-it's a weekday before Thanksgiving, so I'm wondering if they will only have one showing? That's why I booked it for so early, thought maybe because it's off season there would only be one.

I can't wait!! There will be 5 of us, two of which have never eaten at the restaurant! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :yay:
