Working Out Logistics

We are travelling to Orlando on Friday, Oct 28th. Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for refurb the day after we arrive, so if we want the kids to be able to swim with the sharks, we will have to hightail it from Sanford direct to TL. We will arrive at the airport at 10:15 a.m, I figure 45 mins to an hour to get bags and rental car, and plan on getting to TL for noon or so. We can either go through a drive through along the way, or have lunch when we get there. I think the waterpark closes at 6:00, so that will give us about 6 hours. We have never been to TL, and it is really important to the kids to experience the shark swim. It's either the day we arrive or not at all! How does this plan sound?

I think that sounds like a good plan. By the time you check in to your hotel and get there it will be around noon and a great time to go swimming! Lots of people prefer not to go to a park on the first day so spend it at a water park or DD or somewhere. I would pack some snacks in your carry on luggage so you won't be starving, then you could grab some lunch either at the resort before you head over there or get something there and get settled.

Ummm...where did you hear that typhoon lagoon was going down for another refurb on that particular date?

TL was down most of last winter for a major refurb including adding crush'n'gusher.

I was not aware that Disney had anounced which water park was going down for refurb when.

If you go to "Park Hours", and plug in Oct 28th for arrival date and Nov 5th for departure date, it shows that TL is open Oct 28th from 10-6, but everyday after that shows "refurb". I know that these are "projected hours", so maybe it will change.

We would go directly to TL from the airport, and check in at the hotel after 6:00. ( unless we were very quick getting out of the airport).
