I am a stay at home Mom, with 2 girls, ages 8 & 10. I love that I am home with them. It means the world to me. My hubby doesn't make a great salary, so for me to stay at home, I have been running daycare out of my house for almost 11 years now. I love what I do, I have my ECE, but live in a very small community, where I am well known, and have been full with daycare since I have started, from year to year. Most start at 1, and stay til they are in school full time.
I have found this has been my toughest year. I don't want to do it anymore. I am tired of the mess in my house, kids toys always out. My kids don't play toys much at all anymore. I am not ready to leave my kids yet to go out "in the work world" I would like to wait til my youngest is at least 10, so they are 12 & 10.

My question is, does anyone know of anything legitimate that can be done at home, with a computer, or phone, or something, that would allow me to make between $800-$1000 month? Even though that is considerable knockdown from what I am making now. I need some change to keep my sanity. I love kids, and enjoy what I do, but really, really need to change something. I am getting close to 40, and just don't enjoy changing poopy bums anymore.

All help would be appreciated!

Living in a small community has it's challenges. I live in a large city (over a million) so when I went back to work I did it during school hours. I now have a home based business that keeps me busy f/t. With your training I highly suggest looking into getting into the school system there. :thumbsup2

Funny, that is the thing about small communities. We have 1500 people here. Most of my daycare parents that I look after right now, is teachers at the public school. I love that I get the holidays off, and so on, but I am just tired, tired of what I have doing. I have applied in the last year and a half at the school here, we only have 1 school in my community. I live right beside it, that is why I am so busy with daycare, plus I have a good reputation around town. I can see the kids leave the school and within a minute they are in my yard.
Anyhow, small community, not many jobs at the school. That being said, I sometimes think my teachers that I sit for, work against me, cause they don't want me to leave them high and dry, but who knows!
If I quit there will only be 2 daycare providers left in town, that is one of the reasons I am so busy! I will keep trying!
Thanks for the suggestions!

I work for a hospital transcribing from home. You would have to take a course - they do offer some online - Scribes is one I hear of a lot. Alot of at home companies want experience but if it is something you might be interested look into the online courses, I think some of them have deals with some companies.

Another option is an at-home travel agent. There is a Canadian company that has all their agents work out of their own homes. I can't remember the name of it right now but you could probably find more info by googling. I wanted to do that as well, but just didn't have the time to go back to school. There are some corrsepondence courses but not sure how good they are.

That is what I am looking for. Something that will let me continue to stay at home for a little longer then if I went back to work. I would have the time to do some school work, not full time, but could be done. If you think of the name of the Cdn company, I would be interested in knowing who it is!
