I know that lots of folks can work from home and I find myself wondering what you do. I'm just curious! I don't know anyone personally who can work from home.

I am in sales and can work from home on certain days. The customer doesn't know if I can in the office or not with web meeting and 800 numbers.

I'm a technical writer for a computer company. I used to go to an office, but for cost cutting measures, they closed the office last year. Now, we all telecommute from home and meet in person 1-2 times a week to discuss projects.

I read and analyze legal opinions from courts from all over the United States. Most everything is done on the computer. Since I'm a "senior" person, I rotate with two other seniors and spend every third week in the office answering questions. (Plus there are a lot of very nice people at the office that I like to see face-to-face.) But the "non-seniors" at my position work from home 100% of the time.

I am a traffic manager at a cable station and I do all of my work on a system which is on my laptop. I do 50% in the office and 50% at home. I love the fact that I can drive my son to school and still pick him up from school in the afternoon.

I also do eBay part time which gives me a "full time" recompense. I set up an office in my dining room and spend most of my time there!

I manage websites for 7 radio stations. Most I do from home. I go in at least 1 a week. I would like to go in more but they don't have an office for me.

Working at home has its unique set of challenges. It sounds great on the surface but it is hard to only communicate through email. Missing out on those informal 'meetings' that happening in the workplace is also a big downside for me.

I do inbound telemarketing in my home. I have access to 24 hours of schedule each day...while not my ideal hours...I can squeeze in time in off hours and as of now my children are "trained" if I need to do an hour here or there in the daytime.

Gives me a little cash--but there are many in my field that make a living..or at least contribute with signficance to the family cash flow.

My co-workers are all in cyberspace..I have never met my bosses and pretty much never will.

I am the Corporate Purchasing Manager for a large manufacturing company. I go to the office once a week for about 6 hours - otherwise I telecommute from home.

I develop forms solutions which is aaalllll computer work. I only work at home as needed, but could easily do so more often. Really, to go out and drive 20 miles to work to sit in a cubicle and stare at a computer screen when I could do the same thing at home on my laptop is becomming increasingly silly. My presence here is just face-time. I think I'm much more productive working at home, too.

Realtor.

Obviously, I do a lot of work "in the field" but all my paperwork and prospecting is done from my house.

A lot of people told me it would be a challenge and that I might miss an office environment. That may be true for some, but personally, I love every bit of it and will never, ever go back to my previous career in commercial real estate. I make my own schedule and when I don't have to go out, I work in my jammies. In fact, I am wearing my flannel pants and fuzzy slippers right now. :)

I have a dedicated office which has desks and all my office equipment (fax, printers, file cabinets, etc) and a door, that locks. No one else in the family is allowed in here, it's my space, this is where I work. I have a seperate office phone line and at the end of the day, I close the door and "go home" :)

I am a graphic designer working for an ad agency. They were nice enough to let me work from home once my son was born. It's the first case they've had of letting an employee work from home; everyone else still goes in to the office.

I layout and design things such as print ads, billboards, logos, brochures, etc. for our clients. My husband also works for the same company as a designer, so he acts as a liason to bring things back and forth if need be.

I am an ebay seller and I am reopening my home daycare in April/May.

I used to sell more on ebay, but I am homeschooling my younger 2 kids for their preschool years (aged 3.5 and 1.5yo) so I cut back.

I have rearranged my home to be able to do everything. I have an office that I use for ebay and my home gym, I have a preschool room, and our living room is used as the playroom.

I'm an account executive with The Real Estate Book, and also do freelance advertising for other publications. Both mean that I am in advertising sales. With the exception of client meetings which are done in their offices, I work 100% from my home and I LOVE IT! :surfweb:

It is the best of all worlds for me. I love my job, make good money and I am still able to volunteer at school and be here for my daughter when she is out of school each day. I feel like I have my cake and eat it too. :yay: (most days that is - now at deadline I have been known to throw small fits! :rolleyes1 )

My boyfriend works from home. He's a web designer in the adult entertainment industry. He only works a couple of hours a day and makes 3 times what I do (and I make pretty good money myself). I'm jealous. ;)

I summarize the records for worker compensation files.

I do medical transcription.

I just started w/ the company in October. For the first year, they make you work in the office. After that, you're at home for good.

During the first year, though, they'll let you WAH on days where your kids are sick, school's cancelled, etc. I've been home all week because both of my boys have the flu.

I have a laptop and can access my company's network from anywhere as well as have my work # routed to any phone #. I'm in technology and write requirements as well as test applications. I can do most of this from home. I go into my office on set days for meetings etc.

I work for a company that administers funding for schools and libraries to get discounts on internet access and phone service. All the information we need to do the job is on our server, so as long as you can access the server it doesn't matter where you are. I only work from home 2 days a week, but we do have employees that work from home all the time.
