Working a grocery store the days before Thanksgiving..

Of course poor people can drink soda and have a birthday cake. But I thought food stamps were for NUTRITION - not a feature of soda.

Foodstamps are for Food in general, WIC is for Nutrition (where they stipulate exactly what foods you can buy).

My son works for Publix in the meat department. They were actually pretty slow in his department yesterday, for the most part everyone had bought their turkeys days or even weeks ago. The customers they did have were buying for over the weekend--steaks, burgers, etc. Even that was pretty slow, because most will just eat leftover turkey for a few days.

Last year he worked for a ROTTEN grocery store up in NJ, The management was rotten, the customers were rotten. He had things thrown at him, and one lady screamed at him something fierce because they were out of cranberries.

I worked the past five Christmas's in retail, it's so great to not be doing so again this year!!

And PUBLIX is CLOSED on Thanksgiving and Christmas! :cheer2: This is the one thing I am proud to say I work for Publix! ;) (Don't know for how long though).

Yup! Just one more reason they are the number six company to work for in the US!

My DS is still asleep!

Hang in there , Kelly!! As a 25 year supermarket veteran I saw a lot of those holidays. I have to say the craziest one was on a New Year's Eve in 1983!!
