I need a new number for my work, pending as it is. I'm gonna lease it, and both of the following is £30 a month for 12 months, no money down. I can afford that.

Which should I get?

Apple iPhone 14 Pro 128GB

Or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Or perhaps a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 256GB?

You have to pay for your own work phone?

I've only ever had iPhones but that Galaxy fold phone looks cool.
I believe OP is starting a private practice of some type.
To answer the OP, none of what's listed. I bought a Galaxy S24 and have been very happy with it. I hate everything Apple due to their business model, and don't trust the foldable screens.

I've had an S22 Ultra for 2+ years now and am still happy with it. Would totally continue with the same line when I need to upgrade. The camera is fantastic.

I think a lot of the decision hinges on whether or not you are an Apple or Android person in general. My husband is an Android guy while I'm Apple. I have an iPhone 15 Pro, so I'd be more inclined to pick the 14 you've noted. My husband has a Google Pixel, but for the Samsungs, I know more people that have the Fold. So, on that alone, I'd perceive that to be the preferred model.

Have you considered a Google Pixel? We just replaced our 3a with an 8a. I was not happy that they stopped supporting our 3a, but Google has apparently heard the complaints about too short a support time and now guarantees they will provide tech support and security support for 7 years. I have kept cell phones in the past for as long as 14 years, so continuing support is a priority for me. Other than vastly better cameras over the years, none of the new features on any of my recent phones were things I use.

Depends on your line of work I guess. My husband has the z fold and he loves it. He deals with a lot of blueprints for his company and it’s great for things like that since it opens so big. It was expensive though. I have the iPhone 14 which I love but wouldn’t be as good for certain lines of work as the z fold.

I don't know what's available, but my mom has a business number through Google (I believe) that just rings to her one phone. She doesn't have to juggle two and still gets all of her calls. Might be worth looking into something like that.

I agree with the PP who suggested sticking with Apple if your computer is a Mac, and Android if it isn’t. I have an iPhone and iPad, and both a MacBook and a Windows PC. It’s simpler to integrate the MacBook with my mobile devices. I can do it with Windows, but it’s not as easy.

I also like the suggestion of running dual lines in one phone. Is the phone you are using personally able to accommodate two physical SIMs or a physical SIM and an ESIM? If not, is there an internet workaround where you can get a second number as a PP suggested? Having two devices to keep track of may get problematic once your business takes off, unless you plan to specifically leave your personal phone in your personal space and your business phone in your business space. I know I would probably end up having the wrong phone with me, more often than not.

I love my Apple (I have a 15) and am used to it, so I would probably stick with that. Why complicate things? - But that's my emotional reaction.

In a more practical since, having one of each could go either way:
  • Either there could be a great new software update / feature on one that you'll really wish you had on the other and end up disappointed,
  • or there could be a huge system-wide outage (like the recent Windows thing) on one, and you'll be glad you have the other as a backup.

That makes sense, or a $30 pay as you go phone if you just a number to make and receive calls on. My daughter got a pay as you go phone when she was going to school in the U.K. and I think the phone and a phone card that lasted the entire year she was there cost less than $100 total.

IIRC, iPhone 14 and later have dual SIMs so you can have two different numbers for one device, not sure that would work for you but would save having to take two devices everywhere.

Another option, a good old landline. That is what most businesses here do still. Why do you need a full featured cell phone just to make and receive calls?
I think that would depend on the nature of the business, and if they will be in an office location during all work hours. If you were a plumber, a cell would make more sense, because if you are good at it, you are often out of the office on service calls. Most people I know that own their own business do so because of the flexibility of hours and work location. I know several psychologists who do competency evaluations. They are generally in their office or an office type setting for the interview itself (usually over webex) but can otherwise work where ever they want. So a landline wouldn't be idea for that. If your business is a bakery, and you will have a brick and mortar location, then sure, a landline would work.

A cell also lets potential customers inquire by text if that's more comfortable for them than calling.
