We are heading down to Disney in December for the Christmas party (staying at Coronado Springs), and before the party I have to do a work call/video conference for several hours. I was wondering if there were any ideas on where to perform this call on property, or if my wife & 2 girls will just have to live with being kicked out of the room while I perform my call (biggest issue would be interfering with their ability to get ready for the party). Thanks for any thoughts/ideas, and just wanted to check if there was anything before giving the family the boot from the room.

A conference for several hours I would think you would need to give family the boot to either pool time or head to the park and have you join them later. Hopefully you can schedule the call for earlier in the day so there's still time for everyone to get dressed and ready for the party.

My husband has ditched us many times for work conference calls. Send your family somewhere nice and stay in the room. Or the opposite you go to the pool and let the kids have the room

Just stay away from the Main Feature pool during the afternoon pool games. :mic: :scared1:

Good point.

My DH normally does conference calls while on vacation. One time he pushed our sleeping son around in a circle at AK again and again and again.

Good luck!

I had an interview over Skype on one of our trips when we were staying at POR. Dh went on a long walk lol.

Every time we've been at Coronado Springs, there have been business people around on calls or working on laptops. Its very commonplace being a convention resort. I bet if you asked the front desk, they may be able to direct you to an available space in or near the convention center if one is available. It can't be the first time they've been asked about this.

If that's not available, the tables around the lagoon are the ones I see people working at most often. It's quiet now, but I'm not sure how or if that will change once the lagoon restaurant and tower are open. The lagoon restaurant has a connecting bridge not far from the tables. The problem here would be no outlets if you need to plug in, since you say it will last several hours.

Another thought I had was, if this is during the day (before 3pm-ish), maybe ask a manager if you could sit in Maya Grill. They open for dinner, and whenever we've been at El Mercado during the day, Maya Grill is accessible but empty. We've walked in to look around and use the restroom there and no one has been around. If it doesn't interfere with an event or their dinner preparations, they may be able to accommodate you - and its indoors with some outlets (presumably).

If you want to Uber over to the Contemporary, the 2nd floor there is usually super quiet. We've gone there to relax. Also look into your hotel's convention area they might have something as well, but I've never stayed there so don't really know the area well.

Well if you have ample time before the party you could take the call at one of the convention foyers at Coronado Springs, as stated by pp this is a popular area for business calls as Coronado Springs is a convention hotel. If your call is close to the start of the party, then I would recommend to send your family ahead of you and you could take the call at the convention foyers at Contemporary Resort, as stated by FSU Girl, these areas tend to be very quiet especially if there are no events happening in the convention space, once your call is over you can easily hop on the monorail or even walk over to MK which is right next door to Contemporary.

How confidential is the content of the call? That would guide me. If discussing confidential matters, I would hesitate to use a public space. If not really confidential, then I would ask the front desk what they recommend. At one time, the old lobby, which was fitted out with comfy chairs, was pretty deserted.

I have been to conferences at CSR many times and there are a lot of areas inside the conference center main hallway. It's been about 5 years but they had a bunch of sitting areas with a few sitting chairs and an end table or coffee table. I would spend 15 minutes after checking in to do a walk through and check out the conference area to find a good spot. Also, hoping that there is not a big conference going on. Plus, if you do not have your own hotspot or mi-fi, I found that the conference area had a bit better wi-fi than the rest of the resort.
