Word games and add on Threads

I have not been a long time poster but, I have lurked for quite awhile. Anyhoo, I have been reading the community board for about 2 weeks now, and find it amazing that on the 1st page alone, there are prolly well over 400,000 replys in word games and add on posts. This board moves so fast that I have trouble finding threads that I am interested in or would want to reply too. I wonder if there should be a sub forum for most popular or, threads that reach over lets say 500 replys. When I'm looking for a certain thread I may have to go 5-6 pages deep to find it. This is a wonderful site. I have the DisBoard fever, and love reading these boards, however getting past 35 word games or fluff posts, to anwser someones question on a real subject is hard. I'm not complaning, I'm just wondering if anyone else feels the same way. I certainly will not stop reading this board. There is alot of information here and, a great place to get some anwsers, or feelings on a ton of subjects. But again some of those topics start getting lost after the 2nd page.

Many of us here have been asking for a separate games board for years. Especially when you see boards dedicated to things like Hurricane Katrina and Flowers.

Games, exchanges, cliques... all should be on their own board IMO.

I'm not looking to eliminate them but I do think there are enough of them to warrant a place of their own. Those who participate can do so and the rest don't have to keep looking through pages of them when they are looking for other things.

I agree with you but it won't be done. We've tried before many times. All in vain. I once counted more than half of the threads on the first page were games/exchanges.

It bothers me that the games can infiltrate the other boards too. That, to me, shows that they deserve their own thread so we can clean up ALL the boards.

Wouldn't that be off topic on all the topic specific boards, CB obviously not included, as it is not topic specific?

That's what I thought, but I have seen games on the Theme Parks and Strategies board...and I think I've seen them on other boards too.

I play thee games here and would rather have a forum just for the games, but like others have said. It has been requested many of times and it has not happened.

The trick is to use the settings available and bookmarking the result. For the Community Board bookmark and use this link:

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33&daysprune=1&order=asc&sort=replycount&pp=200&page=1

It will show the threads in the forum, which have had new messages over the last day (you can choose a different number of days if you wish -- that's the daysprune attribute), in order of how few replies they have (messages without replies come first -- the 500,000 replies threads go to the bottom).

I've done this for every forum I visit.

If we're going to have the Games and Exchanges on the CB (which I really don't mind) I wish the powers to be would bring back the DIS Meet threads.
