Thanks to a fellow diser posting about Tesco vouchers and funways holidays, I have just managed to book for August. I'm so excited as I didn't think we would be able to go for another 2 years :banana: Its offsite this time at the Clarion, but hey I'd rather go offsite than not go at all. Plus we've only done offsite once before so we are sure to have lots of new dining experiences!

Anyone prefer offsite? Any encouraging words would be most welcome :goodvibes

I've actually never stayed onsite at WDW (but have at DLP) - to be honest, I struggle to believe that it can be worth the extra they charge for it! Plus, having eaten onsite, we find dining outside of the parks more enjoyable and economical. Not sure where the Clarion is but we tend to stay around I-Drive because we enjoy a few cocktails in the evening - on I-Drive, there's loads of restaurants and bars, all within easy walking or bus-riding distance of the hotels :goodvibes

The Clarion is at Lake Buena vista, so it's quite near Downtown Disney. We have only eaten onsite before so I'm looking forward to trying out something new. I do love staying onsite, but I agree it is an awful lot more money. I'm hoping that I like offsite as much, will make future trips much cheaper :yay:

We'd have saved £5,000 if we'd stay off site so the financial saving is a huge bonus :)

If you have kids and book your park tickets through some websites you get a Kids Eat Free card which is valid at loads of places - another bonus!

And there are some pretty luxurious hotels off site for the money.

If you have a car there are no bus time constraints (we don't want to drive in the USA so it's easier for us onsite).

You'll have a great trip whatever happens!

Ooh thanks for the tip about kids eat free... I'm taking my 3 children, however DS is 22 DD is 19 so there is only my little DD10 who will qualify, but any money saving tip is much appreciated :thumbsup2
We will have a car, I'm very used to driving over there by myself, the only thing I will miss is the free car parking

Great news. :goodvibes
What dates you going? We come home on the 11th.

There are big advantages staying both onsite and offsite.
Onsite convenience, free DDP and free good transport.
Offiste no need to plan meals, eat at great places cheaper than onsite which also means lower tip bill.

Cost wise for us there is nothing in it, we just(Oct) stayed at the Fairfield Inn at £29/night then add $100/day for food, snacks & drinks & parking in Disney you are getting upto the cost of staying at OKW which is costing us £118/nt incl free DDP, parking and now also includes internet.

Stayed at the Clarion a few years back when it was Comfort Inn, not the best place we have been (cockroach in my shoe one morning:rotfl2:) but they have totally renovated now so I would be willing to go again, great location.

We're going in August too! We're staying offsite 4th-18th. It's my first trip so I'm really excited! :cool1:

There are lots of offsite restaurants that have been recommended on here. I'm looking forward to Denny's for breakfast and the restaurants on IDrive like Olive Tree, Bahama Breeze, and all the places at The Pointe such as The Capital Grill.

Snow x

Wooo! :cool1: Im going in August too, think its the 12th I fly, staying off site.

I personally enjoy staying off site more now, I think the main reason is it does give youa chance to have a breather from Disney. Dont get me wrong I love WDW, but I have found at times staying onsite that it starts to drive me a little mad! :yay:
